Scary Movie (2000)
Oh dear
This is certainly not intelligent humour. It's not supposed to be, but dumb humour should still make you laugh. Scary movie is a supposed comedy about scary movies, Sadly, it just has loads of scenes ripped straight out of Scream and a few from I know what you did last summer. There are a few lines that are from other films and a 30 second scene here and there but not a lot. The sad thing is that in most cases the lines are done word for word or near enough to what they were in the first place and we are supposed to think it's funny just because they were in another film. No thought has gone into this total garbage at all. Even when it tries to expose other films short comings it actually just exposes it's own. The only thing that is hilariously ironic is the title 'Scary movie'. Because it really is scary when you realize that you paid money to see it.
The Tom Green Show (1999)
Unique and strangely compelling
I'm a fairly recent fan of Tom Green, which is no surprise seeing as the show is rarely screened on tv over here and when it is it's on cable which I don't have.
However I was exposed to his bizarre humour recently and while some bits made me laugh and others made me think 'what a waste of time', I was compelled to watch more of it. Now I am at the point where I snap up any snippet of Greens antics that I get the chance to. It's strange but it really is true when people say that his humour is an acquired taste. Crazy, hilarious pranks riddle the show which are very much the type of thing that you and your buddies might do if only you had the guts. Really it's just harmless fun but the kind that can get you in trouble. EG: Going into a store and getting onto the intercom system or putting your own painting up in a national gallery.
It's certainly not for everyone, but if it sounds like a laugh to you then it probably will be.
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998)
I Still Don't Know Why They Wrote A Sequel
I went to this film not expecting much.. and that's what I got.. this "cash-in" of a sequel doesn't do the first one justice.. the plot is so bad, and the ending is worse... The film wouldn't have been SO bad if they cut the ending off, I mean, it would have been bad.. but not THAT bad. Trust me.. (the entire cinema groaned when they saw it!!) if you've seen the first film you've seen the end of this one. It's more of an inferior remake than a sequel, it copies from scream 1 & 2 a lot, and the first film. I really enjoyed the first film, I HATED this one... Only see it for a joke.. don't expect a good sequel..
