'Improvisation' is one of my favorite words. When things don't go as planned, what do you do?... Improvise. Something Out of Nothing demonstrates how effective improvisational comedy can be in helping young people constructively work through matters that confront them in their daily lives. It is clearly apparent that each young adult in this documentary benefits immensely from this after-school classroom experience, and you can tell from their joyful expressions that it is a rewarding experience for them, as well. Overall, a classroom experience like this can have an immeasurable effect on young adults, and Something Out of Nothing did a great job of emboldening that message.

This documentary was very insightful and heart warming. I really enjoyed watching the kids learn the craft of improvisation and how important this after school activity is to their daily lives. As someone whose life is vastly different from these teenagers, it puts great perspective into my life and inspires me to embrace the arts in my own community. Jack Farrell is also a blessing and very inspiring. We should all have a little more Jack in our lives.

What we do and learn in school is important, but this film showed me that it's also important what kids do after school. I loved the first hand look into this After School Matters improv program and how it helped youth in Chicago. Get ready to be inspired.
