The major release of the week, Hollywood?s Godzilla II?King Of The Monsters, did manage to dominate the Indian releases (Nakkash and Naughty Gang etc.) but failed to embark even on a satisfactory start. Yes, the opening can be termed as fair, but it was nowhere close to that of the previous edition (Godzilla -2014), which was a surprisingly a good success in India as opposed to the rest of the world. And with Salman?s Bharat releasing mid week, the chances of Godzilla II diminish further.?
Meanwhile, both the releases of last week, Vivek Oberoi?s topical Pm Narendra Modi and Arjun Kapoor?s India?S Most Wanted, failed to impress at the box-office. Having said that, Imw was much lower at 10-11 crore while Pm Narendra Modi did show a stable run netting 16-17 crore, both during the opening week. Once again Salman?s Bharat will cut...

In wake of women panels condemning Vivek Oberoi's tweet on exit polls as "disrespectful" to the dignity of women, the actor said he has always been careful about respecting the opposite gender.
The National Commission for Women (Ncw) on Monday sought a response from Vivek for his "misogynistic" tweet on exit polls. Earlier, the Maharashtra State Women's Commission (Mswc) had found his post disrespectful to women.
"I would want to meet the Women's Commission... I have been working on women empowerment since the past 10 years, and I don't just talk about it on social media... I am very careful as far as respect for women is concerned. I personally feel that there's no disrespect (in what happened). I would meet the Women's Commission and if they explain to me what is wrong in it, I would apologise," Vivek told the media here on Monday.

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who plays Narendra Modi in the controversial biopic on the Prime Minister, met the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday over the film's release. The Supreme Court had on Monday directed the EC to watch the film Pm Narendra Modi and submit its report, after the movie's producers cried foul that the poll panel barred the film's release without even watching it.

Pm Narendra Modi producer Sandip Ssingh is hopeful the Election Commission gives his film "justice" and he can release it soon. But he says the process has given the team more stress than what the makers of Padmavati (Padmaavat) went through. The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Election Commission (EC) to watch Pm Narendra Modi, a biopic on the Prime Minister, and submit its report regarding the film's release in a sealed cover to the court by the end of this week.
"We are in a lot of stress. The team is losing confidence, but we hope and pray that we get justice and we release our film. For the first time it has happened that a filmmaker has to go through this. There's so much of humiliation and so much stress... Not even Padmavati had gone through so much of stress. At least their release was not cancelled just a night before.

Bollywood has seen a surge of politically themed films, be it Raajneeti, Indu Sarkar, Thackeray or the upcoming movie on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's life. Actor Darshan Kumaar, who plays a journalist in Pm Narendra Modi, says if the film industry can make biopics on sports stars, then why not on politicians as well. According to reports, the latest to join the bandwagon is a biopic on Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.?
On the biopics boom on politics or politicians, Darshan told Ians, "Audience wants something new, something close to real life. Thus biopics are working superbly." As movies like Indu Sarkar, Raajneeti, Thackeray, Manto and Airlift faced opposition from certain sections, Darshan said, "Politics is an integral part of life, whether people are conscious or not. The 'Mahabharata' is the greatest example of that. The audience accepts a film if the content is good."?
