Racism and Money

Charlotte meets Miss Lambe, a black woman from Antigua, and befriends her. She is an heiress with a huge amount of money who has been sent to England to find an upper crust husband. She is in the middle of a bunch of conniving relatives and friends who aren't afraid to bring up her mother's previous slavery. Sidney has become the center of attention and he is abrasive, asking her for her opinion and then verbally abusing her. She begins to develop some strength as things progress. This show is incredibly well photographed and works pretty well.

Totally hooked now, the interactions in the pineapple luncheon were brilliant, loving Georgiana Lambe. What a breath of fresh air in a period drama

This episode really picked up for me! Miss Lambe is introduced. Lady Denham is hilarious. The tension between Charlotte and Sidney is hot!

Davies has run out of material, so he is just recycling tropes from his adaptation of Pride and Prejudice so many years ago. He even produced a caricature of one of his most famous P&P scenes. Very boring.

Miss Georgiana Lambe is a mulatto woman from Antigua who is an heiress with a £100,000 fortune. This episode explores her thoughts and treatment in Regency society... She is befriended by Charlotte Heywood, the main character in the story....and that puts Charlotte at odds with Miss Lambe's guardian, Sidney Parker.
