strange

A strange film. It is only fair term for define it because the final feeling seems be an improvisation based by succes of High Tide, few cliches and sentimental , mixed with religious drops , themes.

Mouab Ben - Chaib try is reasonable but the ignore of the dead secure guard is first sign than the film has not exactly direction.

So, a sort of experiment.

A Maroccan man looking for buy a bread for his mother.

An overracting secure man.

A fight with tragic end. The pank. And the intervention of cops, mediator, presence of three people and the dead of mother of main character.

The end is just forced option for a pure chaos. And nothing more.

Clunky

This film revisited the successful pairing of Joshua Albano and Mouad Ben-Chaib from the film High Tide. That film was a real success and I wonder if the producers thought some of the magic would carry on over to this effort. Unfortunately it didn't. The script and action were clunky, the story unconvincing and the acting not up to scratch.

As social commentary this could have gone far but it was let down by the aforementioned failings. The themes were important. Prejudice, fear of Muslims, trigger-happy cops, belief in god. However they were diminished by loose direction and unconvincing acting.

I'd really wanted to like this and give it high marks and I'm sorry I was unable to.
