The New Bad Guy
stratus_phere10 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
After this episode everyone can agree that the character grace stone is the world's most hated and hateful human being. She's an arrogant, selfish person who willingly risks her marriage and her son's life for no reason. In what world can a plane magically be transported five years into the future and have this fact accepted, and yet this idiotic woman has trouble believing some of the passengers are now having visions? The fact that she thinks the vision part is crazy, yet the magic plane is not, shows either the writers are in the wrong business and should give up their failed careers for something more in line with their talents like flipping burgers, or else this woman is too stupid to live. The show is great other than this character. Unless they kill her off soon it will ruin the series. I'm hoping she gets sucked into the magic wormhole with her cheating lover, so that Ben can marry Saanvi and everyone will be happy.

Also, getting a bit sick of lying, cheating, all-powerful government entities who are evil and corrupt, and unaccountable to no one. Clean his mess up quick.

Grace Stone needs to go
bsimpson18913 November 2018
The Grace Stone character either needs to get changed by the writers or go. She is annoying. Otherwise I'm ok with the character development so far.

my first moment of concern
cherold19 February 2019
I've been enjoying this series, and I liked this episode. But it did something I found really annoying. Which is have a character explain something really strange as badly as possible in order to create more conflict than might have resulted if that character had a well thought-out explanation that offered existing evidence. Which anyone who wasn't a total idiot would have done.

It worries me when a series resorts to having a character act stupidly for the sake of the plot. It's just this one tiny thing, and hopefully it's not indicative of a coming pattern, but it bugs me all the same.

The Conspiracy Deepens
Hillius24 May 2021
Another good building episode that didn't really reveal a whole lot in terms of story progression, as this show seems to be happy taking things one step at a time like any good mystery piece.

This time around Ben and Michaela are wondering just what happened to the other passengers on flight 828. As Ben is trying his best to put the pieces together they find out that not all those pieces are where they should be. Meanwhile Michaela is doing a rather excellent job at driving Jared crazy with her antics while at the Stone house, Grace and Ben must tend to an ailing Cal who is sick with fever.

While I don't understand or agree with the other reviewers on their dislike of Grace Stone, I do feel that the events at the hospital needed to be worked through a little more. There were a few events that made little sense, and it is understandable that emotions can run high during such a tense sequence while trying to save a little boy who is having unexplained health problems.

I think any viewer who is sympathetic might understand Grace a little bit here. She had a new chapter of her life about to begin when her old life suddenly shows back up in her lap and she's obviously not adjusting well. Having to watch a sick child suffer helplessly doesn't help matters and it is totally understandable how simply overwhelmed she must feel with her husband running off at all hours.

We are shown more about what the government may be up to, while a new player also is added to the table which may be more sinister yet. Originally I was only going to rate this one a 7, but they got an extra point from me for the Skid Row song. I like Jared, I hope Michaela doesn't make his head explode.

8/10.

Storyline is becoming intriguing
dbuckshnis5 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The character development is becoming more complex and intriguing. The storyline also is becoming more "connected" and I'm glad Netflix picked up the series. Great acting on the part of all characters and really enjoying the sexual chemistry between Mic and Jared. What about Danny too?

Finally a really interesting plot point
Penroze23 July 2022
Now that there's more going on than simply 'protagonists can sense bad things and the government is being shady' I'm getting a lot more interested, alongside the fact that this new antagonist group has been set up without being resolved within the same episode like most of the previous threats. This could lead to the show becoming more than just alright...

Loved it [8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
Reaction / Review for Manifest Season 1 Episode 6: Episode 5 was great and I gave it a rating of 8/10. Wait, is the government experimenting on people from the flight? They are definitely hiding something, interesting. Michaela and Jared there is so much tension between them. But how is Cal connected to that Bulgarian guy? Doesnt make much sense with what we know so far. They think that Cal has an infection but every time they start torturing the bulgarian man Cal begins suffering. Im curious tho why Cal feels a connection to that specific guy? The government has more prisoners from the flight so why him? I really want them to find the prisoners. Very entertaining episode overall. My rating is 8/10.

Losing Hope
keitheblais17 June 2021
How did the Medical "Doctors" in this episode not realize that this ten year old boy had the average correct beats per minute for heart rate of a ten year old boy? There's a flash of 90 bpm and his main physician says "His heart rate is a little high." Later we see 103 bpm and his heart rate is considered really elevated. 10 year old children should have a heart rate between 90 and 110 bpm. The smaller something is the more often its heart races, we see this basic knowledge in our everyday life.

This ignorance in knowledge makes you wonder how the main mathematical professor character could even be smart, he can only be as intelligent as the writers, directors and editors behind it. I was hoping this series would go somewhere compelling, but it's quickly deflating...

No medical writing consults?
jodieburma22 July 2021
I understand this is a sci-fi show, but they need some basic medical knowledge on the writing staff. Antibiotics aren't used to "treat" a fever. A fever is a symptom of an infection, Tylenol will lower a fever. Antibiotics are used for a bacterial infection. Duh. Please don't create fake medical scares; get some knowledgeable writers.

Annoying
Jaffasorsa10 July 2022
I liked some of the plot developments but annoying characters and poor explanations from characters to artificially create drama suck. It was hard to keep watching this episode. Lazy and cheap tricks.

Rediculous sophomoric writing and directing.
info-188328 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I'm keeping 4 stars just because of the potential the show has. The acting is reasonable too. BUT ... the writing and directing is the worst. It's just plain dumb and stupid.

For example, the boy is in the hospital, intensive care with two doctors in attendance. So, the wife has a scientific interrogation of the doctor about treatment, effectiveness, etc. Then when the husband does the same, she tells him the boy needs a "father," not a scientist. This contradiction goes unexplained.

Then, later in the boy's room as he suffering further attacks which one of the doctors attributes to undetected fever the treatment conflicting with the cancer treatment program. Naturally, the father asks if they have to choose between treating the cancer versus the fever. Oddly, the doctor then dismisses that notion as unfounded and inaccurate but goes on to explain exactly what the father suggested, having to choose between the two. So, to resolve this conflict of treatments, while in the hospital intensive care, with two doctors standing by, the primary doctor makes a seriously profound declaration: "We need to approach this from a medical perspective." Wow... really?

Separately, unknown to the boy, the doc and the family, the boy's manifestation is linked to another patient in a government facility elsewhere. So, with no clues or basis whatsoever, the father "guesses" that the boy must be channeling the conditions and treatment of another patient somewhere else. So then the father must be clairvoyant.

This writing is apparently from a junior high school student. --- Too bad. Could have been a good series.

Starting to get annoying
lesleymillington13 January 2022
Poor writing. Characters doing dumb things.

Grace not believing husbands voices but ok with plane missing for 5 years. Michaelas inability to tell Jared in a sensible way about her voices - has to ramp up the drama 🙄 I watch it whilst ironing but not for much longer.
