Best of the "Rebel Without a Crew" films! A Fun Ride!

After watching El Rey's "Rebel Without a Crew", I decided to watch all 5 movies, produced by Robert Rodriguez, on a tiny $7,000 budget (similar to how he made his 1st feature, El Mariachi) and write reviews as I watch each one.

Looks like I saved the best for last, because Monday was the best of them all. Perfect blend of action and dark comedy. I can see a bright future for Director Alejandro Montoya Marín and at the end of the "Rebels" TV show I hear he's already at work on "Tuesday"...BRING IT ON! We need a movie series of the WHOLE week!

Alejandro strikes gold.

Alejandro weaves a visually spectacular story that has action, laughs, and ultimately is just a ton of fun. The creativity is in full swing with this one.

Standing in the shadow of greatness, the talent of Director Alex Marin shines with solid cast performances and surprising production value. A great film to watch for film fans and students wondering what is possible for $7,000 feature film budget. A fun ride that shows promise from a rising star in the director's chair (as well as strong talent in front and behind the camers)! Until Tuesday...Monday will do.

Monday is a incredibly fun and entertaining movie experience, I would love to see a Saga made out of this (or at least a Trilogy) Loving Characters with great backgrounds, I Honestly think that The Hit-woman stole the movie, amazing actress, her character reminded me of the T-1000 in terminator 2... She is unstoppable and a bad-ass villain! the setting and tone of the movie reminded me of the early work of Scorsese in After Hours with a mix of Tarantino´s Reservoir Dogs but with its own style and formula. The Only Thing I can call out is the Length..It felt it run a little bit short. I would love to see more scenes with Paul (Kenneth´s Character) it was hilarious and I think an additional scene or two wold help the time also, Joe´s Character (Carlos Laredo), he was AMAZING, I would have love seen him more, maybe on a flash back scene or something doing some Gangster thing Overall Great Action, Suspense and greatly timed comedy pieces

Monday is a well written and directed film with an excellent cast. If you have been following "Rebel Without A Crew" this will not disappoint you. It's hard to pull off a movie on a reality show with everyone constantly nagging you and on a 7K budget no less! But Alex really pulls it off I can't wait for this to come on demand for the showcase and I can watch it again.

A Pure Example of Creativity and Knowledge of the Art to make a Quality Film

Monday is a film Directed by Alejandro Montoya Marin produced by Robert Rodriguez. This feature was made during the making of Rebel Without a Crew where filmmakers were given only $7000 to make a feature, similar to Robert Rodriguez's experience making the Film "El Mariachi."

Alejandro is no stranger to making quality film with limited resources and with "Monday" he thrives above and beyond. Monday is an entertaining Action Comedy about a likeable loser, "Jim" played by Jamie Jung. We can all relate. We wake up one morning and it's rough only in Jim's case, he looses his job, he looses girl and to add icing on the cake, he gets entangled in a cartel hit agenda. All this leading into a clever heightened adventure of having the serious case of the "Mondays."

The film is well cast with Sofia Embid playing the conflicted Sam. Kenneth McGlothin brings in a hilarious comedic Performance playing Jim's Best Friend, Paul, and of course a strong villainous performance from Anna Schatte whose actions through out the film will make you widen your eyes and say' " Holy S---"

Monday is available for purchase on iTunes. I highly recommend watching this film, not just for entertainment, but for other filmmakers to learn how Creativity, as oppose to resources, can make for a quality film.

Incredible film from one of today's best new filmmakers

Like many others, I was eager to watch MONDAY to see just what could be pulled off for a $7000 budget. Within 5 minutes though, I was so lost in the story and characters that I completely forgot this was a micro-budget feature. The writing is sharp and witty, acting is incredibly natural (and funny), and it's amongst the best edited films I have seen in a very long time. Definitely check this movie out and support indie film at it's finest!

Monday - Fast, funny and stylish

I wasn't sure what to expect from 'Monday', a film made on a tiny budget and in such a short time but wow, it delivered. Director Alejandro Montoya Marin pours an impressive level of expertise and professionalism into this tightly-timed and explosive adventure. The likeable Jim's increasingly unusual day feels initially like he's earned the normal consequences of a lax lifestyle. As things spin out of control, one of the most striking realisations is that Jim's worst qualities also become his best. No spoilers - watch 'Monday' for a real blast! I can't wait for the sequel.

Monday is the kind of independent film that is not only enjoyable to watch but it is 100% inspirational! Seeing what Alejandro Montoya Marin could do with $7k and 14 days of filming should make everyone want to go out and make something.

The movie itself is hilariously fun. The characters are interesting and the movie flies by at a pace that never leaves you bored. I personally can not wait to see a sequel.

I have been let down lately by movies, films inwas expecting to be great were mediocre at best, i came across Monday by chance....i was a ray of hope! Well writen, funny, nonstop and a bunch of pop culture references (thats always a box ticked for me). I didnt find out it was made for just $7000 and in 14 days after seeing it, an amazing achievement. All i know is ill be followijg the peope involved to see what comes next!

I can't stop thinking about this film.

If you are looking for a clever, funny and well written action film with an incredible cast and story line, look no further than 'Monday'. Action and comedy are expertly intertwined in this story of one amazing day in the life of an unlikely hero. 'Monday' brilliantly combines drama, comedy, suspense, action, and a love story. I can't stop thinking about this film. I most highly recommend thi film.

Better than all of your other Mondays

I really wanted to like this film and I was not disappointed. The fantastic visual style ties together a fast-paced, unexpected narrative. If this were a book, it would be a page turner. There were a lot of "wow, okay, that just happened" moments and no ho-hum moments. The film features some great characters, brought to life through talented actors. What Monday does not do is feel low budget despite being made on a shoestring. I recommend watching this cool indie film.

Dynamic and fun! This movie makes the viewer pay attention, you have to pay attention to every detail. With a quick time like that makes the story entertaining. Relatable characters, lots of action I really loved this movie, and I think you will too.

So you say you love "Office Space," indie film and Robert Rodriguez films? I have the film for you... This fun (amazing 7k super low budget) film packs a big punch for such a modest budget. Have fun and enjoy!

The Finest of Indie

I spend more time than I like to admit watching indie films and "Monday" was one of last year's finest. Monday is a gritty action comedy made on an insanely low budget that without a doubt holds up to the year's finest indie features. The film takes you on a roller coaster ride - Lead Jamie Jung's has a breakthrough performance. His comedic timing and execution of the everyman is standout and the rest of the cast follows suit.

What's even more outstanding is the film's direction. Director Alejandro Montoya Marin took hold of the genre and in the vein of indie icon Robert Rodriguez is breaking onto the scene with something fresh and original. If it's at a screen near you - DON'T MISS MONDAY!
