The Scurry, a British comedy film about killer squirrels, is in the works, here are the details of the new film.
There have been horror films about a variety of unusual killers over the years, from vengeful car Christine to a killer tyre in Rubber.
Squirrels are the next unlikely killers to get the spotlight, courtesy of the comedy horror The Scurry. The synopsis reads as follows:
Two pest controllers are called to an eco-café in a country park to investigate what begins as a routine vermin problem – but as nightfall approaches an avalanche of deranged squirrels descend, wreaking revenge and mayhem on the staff and visitors in the park.
With many fatalities the survivors take shelter in the café as a freak storm takes out the power and communications leaving them isolated and under attack. An eclectic mix of survivors include pest controllers, a sulky teenager, hypocritical vegans, and...

Forget all about Anne Hathaway, Jim Sturgess, Rafe Spall and co. That lot are yesterday’s chip paper. The stars of the 2011 One Day film have been superseded by this new bunch, now bringing David Nicholls’ hit 2009 romance novel to life for a new 14-episodes Netflix series. Adapted by Wild Rose and Three Girls screenwriter Nicole Taylor, One Day is a bittersweet love story set across two decades. It’s the story of Emma and Dexter, whose first night together at their university graduation sparks almost two decades of will-they-won’t-they romance.

Ambika Mod turned down several requests to audition for the part of Emma Morley in Netflix series “One Day,” adapted from David Nicholls’ beloved and bestselling romance novel.
As she freely admits, there was a lot going on at the time. Her first major TV project, AMC’s dark comedy-drama “This Is Going to Hurt” — based on Adam Kay’s brutally insightful memoir about working for the U.K.’s beleaguered National Health Service — had just come out, sparking both critical acclaim and widespread debate. While Ben Whishaw was the lead, much of the noise was centered on Mod’s turn as Shruti Acharya, the exhausted, overworked and unsupported junior doctor whose tragic story arc became one of the show’s key talking points.
The actress, just 27 at the time and a self-confessed introvert, had started getting several messages a day from people “pouring their hearts out,” telling her how Shruti...

In 2021, Pointless fans had to come to terms with the fact that change is the only constant in this crazy, crazy world when the show’s co-creator and co-host Richard Osman left to pursue other career opportunities such as being an incredibly successful crime novelist, and taking the main seat on his own game show Richard Osman’s House of Games.
Good for Richard Osman, it all seems to be very going well for him. But for Pointless?
Taking its cue from satirical current affairs show Have I Got News For You?, which settled on a revolving carousel of guest hosts when its regular host Angus Deayton was forced to step down instead of plumping for a permanent chair, Pointless has welcomed a series of co-hosts in the past couple of years.
First up were Sally Lindsay, Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne, Alex Brooker, Konnie Huq and Ed Gamble. Next came Andi Oliver,...

While The Super Mario Bros. Movie continues to dominate the box office, Paramount is rubbing its paws together at the thought of releasing Knuckles, a Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series for Paramount+. With video game adaptations becoming more popular than ever, thanks to the success of Sonic the Hedgehog, The Last of Us, and Illumination’s Mario movie, it’s the perfect time to expand the Sonic Universe for television. Idris Elba plays Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and will reprise the role for the series. Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor also join the cast alongside Adam Pally, who will reprise the role of Walt Whipple. Rory McCann guest stars.

When it was announced yesterday that Frankie Boyle’s BBC series New World Order had been cancelled, the comedian’s reaction was frank but restrained. “Not surprising in the current climate, I suppose,” he told fans on Twitter, many of whom had followed his superb topical panel show devotedly for the five years it was on the air. Boyle didn’t elaborate on what he meant by the words “current climate”, but it doesn’t take too many imaginative leaps to hazard a guess. New World Order was one of the few shows on TV that was sincerely and unapologetically left-wing. And politically speaking, the BBC is in the midst of a full-fledged climate crisis.
It’s not good for optics that New World Order’s cancellation comes just weeks after the BBC was embroiled in an impartiality row with Match of the Day host Gary Lineker. The dispute – prompted...

It takes many people to fill Richard Osman’s shoes, and not just because he wears a size 14. Back in April 2021, the TV presenter, producer and novelist announced that he was leaving his co-presenter role on Pointless to focus on his hugely successful Thursday Murder Club book series and other projects. Due to the ‘stars we see in the night sky are actually hundreds of years in the past’ nature of TV broadcast, by that point, Osman was already four months out of the job. His final episode of the regular Pointless (he’ll still appear on the celebrity editions) was filmed in December 2021 and aired in July 2022, with this touching message to Alexander Armstrong.
When Pointless returned for Series 28 in September 2022, it came with a rotating clutch of new guest-hosts sitting behind Osman’s fact-checking desk. First up was Sally Lindsay, and following her were Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne,...

Endemol Shine Group has become one of the first major independent production groups in the UK to set out plans to furlough or cut the pay of employees after coronavirus ripped through the TV business.
Endemol Shine — which owns labels including Tiger Aspect and is in the process of being acquired by Banijay Group — is holding talks with its 370 staff in the UK about their future over the coming months.
Employees will either be furloughed onto the government job retention scheme, or have their salary cut by up to 30% over three months. The pay cuts are on a sliding scale, so senior managers will shoulder the biggest wage reductions.

The British public broadcaster is developing the format, which will see celebrities invited to take a “sideways swipe” at the big issues facing Britain today. Topical given what’s been going on with Brexit this week.
