Surprisingly touching and vulnerable

My friend Tommy made me laugh, out loud. When it starts you think this will be a funny macho documentary about a group of guys trying to get their friend to reach important milestones of so-called manhood (i.e., losing his virginity), and ends up becoming a much bigger journey not just for Tommy, but for Nem (director) as well. It features real, raw honest emotions, conversations and creates an uplifting story to see other perspectives and how other people live their lives. Tommy really touches your heart and grows on you, as well as providing that crucial comedic relief. A recommended watch, absolutely.

An equal parts deep and hilarious documentary

I turned this on because the trailer was hilarious and it seemed like a light hearted comedy to throw on during a late night weekend. While it undoubtedly has its share of goofs and laughs, I was absolutely stunned at how deep this film is, and how easy it is to make a connection with Tommy along with his friends. The soundtrack and lighthearted transitions make it easy to watch, and the complexity of the situation really draws you in until everything gets tied together at the end. You will find yourseld rooting for a complete stranger who feels like a lifelong friend. Very polished filmmaking and an absolute joy to watch from start to finish.
