"The evil that you can see is not as dangerous as the one you can't."
classicsoncall1 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Forget about how bad this is as a horror movie, it's just plain bad for any kind of movie. However it does have the distinction for setting a world record for the number of times the words "I'm sorry" is used in a picture, both in total quantity and in the number of characters who felt the need to say it. But even beyond that, the dialog, especially when on the train, is ridiculously repetitive and insipid. There's only one scene in the picture that for the unsuspecting, might elicit a jump scare response, and that one turns out to be a dream. And when all is said and done, the main character Camille (Suziey Blockis), for some reason is struck with terror when her ordeal is over, and sees survivor Rita (Sarah Schoofs) in a television news interview. Why? I've never said this before in a movie review because I've read it a hundred times myself and it's so clichéd, but this one looks like it could have been made by a bunch of high school kids on both sides of the camera.

Oh, God.

This is so boring. Like watching nails rust levels of boring. I find it hard to express quite how tedious this film is. Watching water freeze, paint dry or the growth of your own fingernails is more interesting.

I'd rather beat myself over the head with a cast iron skillet pan than sit through it again.

Good job for a low budget film!

Warning: Spoilers
This film was low budget, and in terms of the video quality that shows. But I think they did a lot with the budget and handled things really well. The main draw is the story, and the characters. The acting is pretty good, and you buy into the characters. I really liked how there was a previous incident with the sound.

I think this did a lot of set up for when things happened again. I liked how the did this as witness interviews.

The let down though was the ending was too open ended, and vague. It felt rushed compared to the rest of the film, and leaves you with more questions than answers. It's a shame, because overall its pretty good.

Arrest and fine the maker of such movies and they are so over confident to call it not only horror genre but also a movie. Even ghosts will feel insulted after watching. Why do they do this what make them feel people will watch it a study can be done on such mind set. I finished this movie in five minutes by fast forwarding.

This evil let me down...
the lioness18 January 2022
I was hoping this film would live up to the image that it presents in the poster and the trailer but it doesn't. It falls flat for me. The scenes on the railway car were scary at times but I felt the film makers didn't take full advantage of the eeriness they created, especially with the pockets of darkness that was in the tunnel. There was too much screaming that just didn't make any sense. I kept wondering why does the female lead scream so much? What was there for her to scream about?

The shots of the scenery were beautiful and the railway cars were awesome but that's all this film had going for it. The ending left me flat and let down.

Most of the time is strange sounds come from somewhere and it's the scary part. Low budget film without enjoyable scary moment. Dislike!

What a dull, boring waste of time and money. "A nice, slow burn"... perhaps, if you also enjoy the "nice, slow burn" of hemmorhoids. I am not a particular fan of psychological horror movies, and "Infernum" is an excellent reason why. Almost nothing happens in this movie. The opening sequence, where the lead character, Camille, loses both of her parents was all right, but it was all down the tubes after that. I've had kidney stones that were more passable and enjoyable than this tepid piece of trash. You may end up with a bit of psychological horror yourself, in the form of self-loathing for having watched this turd of a movie from beginning to end. While watching, I began to hope and pray that the "mysterious noise" featured in the film would show up for me, and spare me this bilious bit of utter drivel.

Any positive reviews for this film had to have come from someone directly connected to the film.

Suspenseful, exciting, interesting, realistic
peter-990-6847821 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Infernum is a movie about a natural occurring phenomenon called "the hum." This has been reported In the media many times and as a viewer we see how this can be used to create a great movie.

During a camping trip, Camille's parent investigate a weird noise during the night and disappear.

Fast forward twenty years later and the same conditions that caused her parents to disappear have now reappeared. Together with her friend James, she goes to investigate and see what's going on.

In the process, she spends a lot of time on an old train (with a real rail car from 1873 operated by Northern Nevada Railway) until her friends start disappearing one by one in weird circumstances.

Susie Block in the role of Camille brings her experience of horror films to this movie. Add to that Mike Barbuto as Hunter, Clinton Roper Elledge as James and Sarah Schoofs as well as well known sculptor, Rita Habermann who has a small role as a sculpture teacher (which she does in real life).

The film has interesting locations (Northern California), Santa Barbara and Ely Nevada, site of NNR museum.

The film is distributed by Indican pictures, Part of Lionsgate, so you know it's good.

Wonderful, old style, suspenseful horror movie
rita_hab24 December 2019
It was a pleasure to watch this movie. Almost no special effects, great story and unexpected moments made this movie a thrill to watch. Where you don't expect it, it hits you with scary moments and the scenes on an actual train moving through the Nevada winter breathless. Recommended.

Nice Nevada horror film
peterinkauai24 December 2019
Wonderful horror film done in northern Nevada using Northern Nevada Railway's trains. If you remember Rat race, the station shown was in fact Ely, Nevada not Silver city, NM, which has no railway. Infernum is about a real life event, with the motto "what you hear will kill you" starring Suziey Block, Clinton Roper Elledge, Michael Barbuto and Sarah Schoofs. Directed by Dutch Marich. Recommended!

Nice low production film.
petervekinis5 April 2022
I am located in Greece and unfortunately I can't watch this movie on straight video. It's available in North America and in the UK, so one needs a VPN to watch it outside these areas. Which is what myself and others did.

I always watch movies about trains, and this is no exception. The railway sequences in apparently year 1873 railway cars, are nice. It's amazing how well kept these railway cars are, considering they are over 140 years old! They were rented from the Northern Nevada railroad and one day, when I go there, I hope to see them personally.

The film is about a sound that kidnaps people and people who are trying to find what happened. Makeup is very good (done by well known make up artist Marcy Saylor) and some filming sequences excellent (cinematographer was director Dutch Marich).

Music was created by Bryan Stage (famous for his work on the to be released "we want the Airwaves" documentary) and Daniel Valle did the excellent drone cinematography.

Yes, a low budget film, but well done.

Nice movie and cool trains
dxflights5 April 2022
Ok, this is a low budget movie about a weird sound that abducts people and takes them somewhere. It's sort of a mix between a horror and not so horror movie. Filmed in Northern Nevada among other places, it uses Northern Nevada trains and locomotives so for someone interested in trains, like me, this is not so bad a film.

You can tell some of the crew are new in movie making, but as far as the production goes, it's an OK escape from reality.

There are other reviews that don't give it many points (obviously they were part of people that didn't like the crew for some reason), but I wouldn't give much attention to such reviews.

Suffice to say, it is great for railroad buffs!
