Episode 204

Warning: Spoilers
Well, that opening scene is certainly one that will stick with me for some time.

This show is not elite, but it does craft the balance between murder mystery and personal struggles better than most.

The Brutality Revealed
Hitchcoc17 June 2018
A young boy who foolishly got into a car and was chained in a secret room manages to escape in the previous episode. He even manages to get a ride from an elderly couple, but then fate sets in. There are more kidnappings. Marcella begins to look for help. She is referred to a hypnotherapist and has some unsettling results. We are also beginning to see the possibility of her being guilty of something. Also, there is someone doing some surveillance concerning her.

Could do much better

Another slow-moving episode with little seeming to happen. Too many actors being known for other things. Ben Jones (Jason Hughes) and Kate Wilding (Tamzin Malleson) Midsomer Murders stand out as do Keith Allen and Nigel Planer (there is little in the way if action. Some laughs might have helped. The stalker stopping another stalker does offer some irony). At least we are half way now.

More of the same.

I must be sounding like a broken record, I don't ever recall reviewing a British TV series and being critical of the content, but I do feel that they are overstepping the mark here once again, that bedroom scene was too much, it doesn't need to be so graphic.

I am struggling to understand how on Earth Marcella is able hold down her job, which is one of the most stressful there is, she is on the edge, and been at breaking point for ages, how is she staying at work? They've done a great job at giving her problems, but enough already.

I don't think this is anywhere near the standard of the first series, sorry I thought this was poor, 4/10.

Why
laje201520 September 2018
Anna Friel is absolutely terrible in this series. The only reason to watch it is because it's British crime. Her histrionic and violent behaviour is not endearing and it's impossible to feel sorry for her character. She's totally tiresome and irritating.
