Some Good Information

Black Gloves and Screaming Mimis (2017)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

Kat Ellinger discusses THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, its various sexual overtones and how they connected to other films in the genre. This thirty-one minute documentary is mildly entertaining but I must admit that I found it to be a bit long and at times it just seems like Ellinger was rambling on. That's not to say she doesn't have some nice bits of information here because she certainly does but I think a bit more editing would have helped things. She talks not only about THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE but she also discusses other films from Argento where sexuality is a focus as well as the importance of female roles. He compares them to what other directors were doing in their own films. Again, fans of Argento should enjoy this but it could have benefited from being shorter.
