Brave New World (#2.22)
audaciousness2 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A much-needed "calm down" episode after the last one. I loved seeing the show completely shift gears after the trauma of riot night.

Ve stood up to her father and gave up her family legacy, just to save Pop's. Hermione finally helped her daughter instead of being Hiram's obedient wife. Archie made it clear that he is no longer Hiram's lackey. Betty confronted her father and walked away from all of the darkness he represents. Cheryl got emancipated from her horrid, abusive mother and found a new family in the Serpents. The divisions between the Northside and the Southside are gone- now there is only one united Riverdale. The Serpents are no longer the enemy of the town.

All of this was great resolution and set in motion some very exciting plots for next season. I was also glad to see some new terrors be opened up, not just resolution, especially with Hiram's plan for the prison finally making sense- it was never a plan to "go clean," it was a plan to partner up with some of the most despicable figures in Riverdale, Penelope, Claudius, Penny to start a drug empire. To make sure the children don't get in their way, he set out to dissolve the very glue that holds them together and frame Archie for murder. Then, there was also that interesting bit between Alice and Polly and her very creepy and telling smile once Alice agreed to meet someone from The Farm. I am so excited to see where this all goes and what's next for everyone.

My favorite scene:

"Come on, Jug. Don't look back."

I have learned that money is the lousiest way of keeping score
Ed-Shullivan18 May 2018
Season 2 ended with a bang and I am very interested in seeing how season 3 continues with a great cast of unique characters who seamlessly go from being friends to adversaries, to outright enemies, to collaborators, to victims and back to friends once again.

I know the story line will leave people shaking their heads with the silliness sometimes but that is exactly what makes Riverdale a blast. The timing of the few music infused interludes always seems to come at the most opportunistic time when you are just dying for something weird and wonderful to happen and this series never seems to disappoint its dedicated audience.

Mrs. Shullivan calls the show a soap opera but I call it cool and calculating with an endless stream of curves and bends with this eclectic cast of characters who reside in Riverdale that I am able to just sit back, relax and wait for the next stupid but yet surprising act to be perpetrated.

It seemed season 2 just started and now 22 episodes later the season ended far too soon. I know Riverdale will be back for a third season because there is much still to be discovered by Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead and I just know that Pops has to get his restaurant ownership back from the Lodge family so I will patiently wait for season 3 to commence with more creative story lines and a refreshed cast who both love and hate each other every single episode.

I give the closing episode 22 of season 2 a perfect 10 for 10 score.

... What.. happened?

Warning: Spoilers
I reviewed the episode before this one and I thought it was the best episode this season. But the season finale left me extremely disappointed. It felt as though they were rushing the script, just to get something out. It didn't feel complete.

A lot of things weren't explained good enough, a lot of things were messy and I didn't like it at all. You know that guy who was shot and killed? He wasn't killed, because, like, the sheriff lied to FP about it and yeaHhhH. What was the point of that whole thing... I mean, they could've at least made a dramatic reveal showing us that the dude was still alive. To clarify, 'the dude' meaning Fangs. It was messy, all caps.

One thing I liked was the whole 'villain lair', where all of the remaining villains showed up and had a secret meeting. Reminded me of an old game I played when I was younger.

To be honest, after last episode, I expected much more from the season finale. I just hope that next season will be better, and I hope to God that there are no musical episodes.

Lost potential and plots out of nowhere

Warning: Spoilers
So... That was disappoiting. We were left with this huge cliffhanger from last week, left in anticipation for the war to come, and we just... Didn't get anything. There was so much potential to have our minds blown with an all out war, with Jughead in critical danger at the hospital... Anything. But what we got was an actionless season finale with a political intrigue at the end. It just was not really worth it, in my opinion. Adding to that are all the plotlines that were introduced out of nowhere, as they where all season. And the plotlines that were just let go without any resolution. This show, dare I say it, is pretty trashy. Entertaining, but not really good.

Idk, it might be just me because I had high expectations for the season finale. I was gonna give it 1 star but the ending was OK.

Disappointed

This season was all over the place. I am not sure why the writers do not pickup one theme and stick with it. Bringing Betty's brother was a bad move. He did not bring anything to the series. And, why do they not show anything school, classroom, sports related stuff more in the series?
