As an assignment in Mr. Hackington's class, pairs of students are tasked with taking care of eggs for a week. It is a test of their parenting skills. The sea monsters Lagoona Blue and Gillington "Gil" Webber are told not to partner with each other, as Hackington explains that there is a negative stereotype that all sea monsters are bad parents. Lagoona and Gil are offended, and decide to prove that the stereotype is false. Throughout the week, the young couple makes an extra effort to keep their egg safe and warm. At the end of the week, Hackington locates a crack at the couple's egg and gleefully fails them. But then the teacher realizes that the egg is about to hatch. His laboratory assistant informs Hackington that he chose fresh gargoyle eggs for this assignment. A baby gargoyle emerges from the egg, and proceeds to attack Hackington. Lagoona and Gil proudly note that their egg was the only one which hatched, indicating that they are better parents than their classmates.

In science class, the teacher Mr. Hackington announces that the students will dissect living frogs. Lagoona Blue is horrified, since she is an animal lover and figures that the frogs have a right to life. Lagoona plans to rescue the frogs, and asks her friend Frankie Stein to help her. Frankie uses her detached hand to subject Hackington to non-stop tickling, leaving him in no condition to control the classroom. Frankie finds a jar full of detached eyeballs and throws one to Cleo De Nile's head. The students enthusiastically engage in an eyeball-throwing fight, giving Lagoona enough time to rescue the frogs. Later, Lagoona turns the girls' bathroom into a new habitat for the frogs. Disgusted female students flee the bathroom.

The track team practices at the gym, and the fire elemental Heath Burns tries to show off for the girls. The girls think that he is conceited and criticize his arrogance. Clawdeen Wolf claims that she is a better runner than Heath. Heath claims that he can defeat her with minimal effort in a race, because girls are too delicate for track. He ignores Clawdeen''s warning that he chose the wrong day to challenge her. Heath sets the rules for their race, and decides that the loser will be condemned to clean the Pit of Horror. Heath brags about his supposedly easy victory to Clawd Wolf (Clawdeen's older brother), only to hear from Clawd that he chose the wrong day for such a contest. Heath is puzzled by the ominous response, but proceeds with the race. Draculaura and Lagoona Blue then open the curtains and reveal that there is a full moon in the sky. As a werewolf, Clawdeen is empowered by the moonlight. She howls at the moon, and then runs at super speed. She easily outclasses Heath. Sometime later, Heath is trying to clean the Pit of Horror while intimidated by a gigantic monster. Clawdeen, Draculaura, and Lagoona laugh as they observe his torment.

Cleo De Nile has managed to sufficiently train her rookie cheerleaders into performing advanced stunts, but they still make glaring mistakes. Cleo decides that they need more practice. She orders Frankie Stein, Draculaura, and Clawdeen Wolf to cheer at every available school event. This leads to a number of accidents. Their cheering at a chess game distracts the players, and provokes a zombie attack. Cheering at a swimming contest ends with Frankie falling into the swimming pool and accidentally electrocuting the swimmers. Cheering at a debate contest and constantly interrupting the school's debate team causes the team's defeat. In a basketball game, Draculaura wants to perform a pyramid with the squad, in order to impress Clawd Wolf. She performs well, until she notices blood sausages. She is afraid of blood, and faints into Clawd's arms. She accidentally causes the school team's defeat in the game, and the crowd is booing the cheerleaders. Shortly later, Draculaura is crying alone, but her love interest Heath Burn is teasing her about her humiliation. Clawd intimidates Heath into giving up on his next date with Draculaura, as he wants to date her instead. Draculaura is happy, since she likes Clawd. But she is next confronted by the angry Clawdeen, who does not want her best friend to date her brother. Cleo despairs at her team's poor performance. She then receives a text message about making contact with Scary Murphy, though it is unclear if this is a promise or a threat.
