Alien Hairdryer at your service

Although the subject (Ark of the Covenant) is of little interest to me this episode was decently executed. When Josh was lowered into a ruin in Jerusalem I didn't think he was going to fit. I agreed with him he should not have had breakfast that morning. Amazingly they were lowered by a device powered by a hand drill - getting back up would be a challenge. Once down there it is very difficult to maneouvre through the stone corridors. It was a wonder they could turn around; I've had motel rooms like that.

The episode switches to Ethopia where the Covenant is supposedy guarded. Various interesting locations affiliated with the Ark are investigated. Quite intriguing is the island that holds relics that came with the Ark. It is incredible that they are granted permission to examine the artefacts and even test for composition using an non-evasive technique by a device Josh called an Alien Hairdresser. With that success they get an actual meeting with guardian and request a peek-a-boo.

Use of Before Common Era (rather than BC) terminology has the benefit of being less offensive to non-Christian cultures and has the added benefit of not incorrectly putting AD after a date instead of before a date. Example AD 1200 is correct whereas 1200 AD is not whereas 1200 CE could also be referred to as CE 1200.

show about searching for the ark of the covenant

I have enjoyed many episodes of this show. In this episode about searching for the ark of the covenant though, Josh used the term 'BCE' instead of 'BC' when referring to a historical date. As I Christian, I find 'BCE' (before the common era) silly-sounding. BC (before Christ) has meaning, whether or not you believe that Christ was God. BCE is a vague term that means nothing and is confusing to many people. It is also offensive to Christians. Trying to erase Christ from history isn't going to work. This certainly isn't going to do it. Because Christians are extremely loving and forgiving, we don't often show how offended we are about this sort of thing, but just wanted you to know for future episodes. Hopefully the term won't be used again. It isn't necessary to use it.
