A tour of the Holy Land of David and Solomon
SimonJack10 October 2022
"The Footprints of God" presents the story of salvation, from Abraham to Augustine with modern visits and film of all the places and sites of the Bible and ancient Church. This documentary is one of a 10-film series produced by Ignatius Press and St. Joseph Productions. In this film, author, apologist and expert Middle East tour guide Steve Ray, takes viewers on an aerial and ground tour of sites and places of David and Solomon.

Most prominent of those, of course, is Jerusalem. But very little is left of the Salem that David conquered and the Jerusalem of their times. The film visits the Western Wall, now the holiest place in the home of the Jewish faith. But a visit to the model of the ancient city that is in modern Jerusalem shows what it was like in the time of Christ, just before its destruction in 70 A. D. Modern excavations below areas of the old City of David have found ancient streets and places of ancient buildings.

This film travels to Bethlehem, which was the home of Jesse and his son David and his brothers. Aerial scenes and a stop on the ground in the Valley of Elah show where David slew the Philistine giant, Goliath. Then the film goes to the hill country and the wilderness areas where David fled Saul. And then, to the ancient site of Shiloh. It was from there that David led the procession of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem.

This is an interesting video tour and discussion of the Biblical places and stories of David and Solomon. In my travels I have been able to visit Jerusalem, Bethlehem, the Valley of Elah and other places shown in this film. This entire series is an excellent tour and discussion of the places of the Bible. Christians and others interested in history and the archaeology of the Middle east, especially, should enjoy these films.
