For one: If you like seeing Justice & Truth winning (almost) all, watch this series.
For second: I never knew this much about society on the Arabic peninsula; women being lawyers, choosing their own partners, being (almost..) independent, women wearing Western clothing & no veils, etc.
For last: Watch this - you won't regret it! :)

Great learning experience

Great show if you're interested in learning about the legal system in Emarat. Initial episodes give off rookie acting vibes, then get better as you find yourself hooked on the storyline. All in all, I'd say it's a great effort coming out of this young country (my place of birth). I'd love to see more Farah in SE2
View in the context of the cultural environment

If this series is viewed only from a Western perspective, it will be totally incomprehensible to a viewer without an understanding of the cultural context in which the series is set. It's clear that a lot of money was spent in production even if the acting and storylines leave much to be desired. There are holes in the plots that seem to be conveniently ignored as long as the ending achieved was a happy one and had a moral to it. The editing and scene merges are poorly done but for a first attempt, it's not a bad soap opera. However a western audience would tire of the blandness of the content unless more controversial issues could be included in the plots. Since that may not be likely, the series will probably only enjoy popularity among a certain target audience and geographical setting.
I couldn't get past the acting and corporate camera work.

I wanted to give this show a chance as it got a lot of hype on Netflix and in the media.
But I couldn't get past the bad acting, and the filming style which looks like a marketing video for a real estate project, endless pans across buildings, parks, streets, etc. with unnecessary moments of slow motion footage.
Middle Eastern productions like Theeb, City of Life, Amreeka and Kite Runner were incredible, yet this falls very short, and could have been easily fixed with better casting and cinematography.
Arabic suits

Well If you liked suits then you would like this series too. It shows the professional life of a lawyer as well as their family life.
However it might pose a small problem to understand the context of it all if you're not familiar with the arabic culture.
But isn't it one of the benifits of watching movies and series learning about new cultures ?

If you are expecting The Good Wife or the Good Fight or even LA Law forget it, this is boring, the main interest is the environment in which this is set what with the Arab clothing both male and female -- but that quickly palls. The main character is trying hard to make it on her own but at the same time not very rebellious -- office at her father's firm, dinner with her family every night, maybe that is the way it is over there but it makes for boring TV. So very unrealisitic and notrefelctive of real life and real struggles, she takes on pro bono cases and can well afford to. living at home as she does with no office overhead. The writers try hard also to make this society look egalitarian -- woman practicing in a man's world, no sexual harassment, no bias by the judges, oh come on who are they fooling. Ridiculous as well as boring. Don't watch.
I Love this Show - Gentle Law and Order plus Soap Opera

Set in the plush world of United Arab Emirates this show centers around a family with the father a respected lawyer and his recently graduated lawyer daughter.
It's cheesy but it's fun. Case are interesting enough but not complicated. Beautiful shot with the opulence of a fairy castle. Bonds of family and love are the themes.
It's gives a great insight into how a modern Islamic country operates. Particularly interesting, are the rights of women in divorce and custody.
There are plenty of western shows and movies about Islamic radicals but this isn't one.

Well Written - Good Cast

It's a milestone show for a Middle East production. Well written, well acted, good cast, and it's breaking new ground locally in UAE. It follows an ambitious young female lawyer who got her law degree in the US and instead of joining her father's law firm back at home she decides to go out on her own as a defense attorney, pushing the legal and cultural envelope in the process. I think they do a good job of portraying Arab family dynamics and address universal human concerns In story-of-the-week elements. I think it helps immensely regarding it's appealing storytelling in that it was created with an Emmy award-winning producer with credits from LA Law and NYPD Blue. Two thumbs up.
Interesting show on law in Abu Dhabi

Very interesting show. It starts off slow but it does pick up more as the series goes on but it's never a fast-paced show. There is definitely some questionable acting and some of the story lines could've been more detailed but overall it's been enjoyable. You can get a rare insight to a world that not many people see.

Realistic courtroom drama without all the egos!

It is a beautiful soulful courtroom drama without all the antics and egos in a big western show. Each episode revolves around a court case, which is usually resolved in 1-2 episodes. The characters are played beautifully by the actors, especially the 2 main lawyers Hassan (who comes across like a gentle thoughtful Atticus) and the young independent Farah. The cases themselves are interesting with a good semblance to real life - from kidnapping, murder, inheritance, drug smuggling to the more mundane real life of 2 parents who are disagreeing on the care of the autistic daughter. One of the most real TV moments I've ever seen in a fictional programme is when the 10-year-old girl with autism/Asperger's syndrome returns to the office to tell the junior clerk that she hoped he didn't feel bad that her parents listened to the senior lawyer and not to him. I can only imagine the stories and characters are based on real life situations. I commend everyone involved in this show, especially considering all the bad press that the UAE/Middle East receives about dictatorial justice. I'm not from arab culture so I was pleasantly surprised by the portrayed beautiful humanism of their court system. The system is different and you can expect death penalty for rape, but it never feels wrong, just intriguing. It's nice to see a world where defendant and prosecution lawyers aren't sworn enemies but actually try to resolve matters and talk to each other. I'll admit there isn't the high-grade forensics Sherlock Holmes' style analysis in the show, but it doesn't need it. I recommend everyone to see this show, although I know only few people will be able to appreciate the beauty of its simplicity. The fact that women can portray a role without the focus being on their looks, fashion and glamour is anathema to 99% of western shows created in recent times. So take a chance, you may love it!

I saw this series but the story is different from the stories of other series and learned a lot about life because I saw part of the series represents the reality and the other part made me see life another another way
