'MY LUCHADOR': Four Stars (Out of Five)
A 13-minute comedy-drama short film, executive produced by Vanna White (of TV's 'WHEEL OF FORTUNE' fame); and it was produced by her brother Chip. The film tells the story of an aging Luchador; that's forced to take an office job, working for his successful wife. He refuses to take off his mask though, as many Luchadors do (the short explains to us). The film stars Cedric Guthrie (as the Luchador) and Rachel Jeffreys (as his wife). It was written and directed by Shea Sizemore. The film contains no real dialogue, and it's beautifully scored by Matt Stanfield. I had the pleasure of seeing this short at the Portland Film Festival, with Vanna White in attendance (I even got my picture taken with her). So it was definitely a fun viewing experience. I also really enjoyed the film; it's funny, sad and very sweet. The two lead performances are nicely done, and it's actually a really nice, and touching love story.
