I do not know in which manner see a not Greek Orthodox Christian this film. but for an Orthodox believer, Monakh i bes is useful. as entertainment and as remember about the rules of Church. as answer to Ostrov and for the nice slices of Paterik. for the portrait of tsar Nikolay I and, sure, for the performances. sure, it is a comedy. and more. it is a precise portrait about the war between believer and devil. and only the knowledge of the Eastern tradition could give the support for understand the nuances and the references and the ironies and the circle who becomes frame of the story. the start point, sure, is the experience of Saint Ierarch John, archbishop of Novgorod, from the XII century. but the film gives the right colors to an episode who seems be only legend. and this does this film seductive.

Great comedy about the eternal battle of good versus evil
Zhorzhik-Morzhik8 March 2020
"The Monk and the Demon" is a witty fantastic comedy of two Russian classics - directed by Nikolay Dostal and screenwriter Yuriy Arabov. Dark forces inhabit the monk and do everything possible so that the monk finally lost faith in God. However, they do not know how strong the faith of this little man is. The best role of the actor Timofey Tribuntsev.
