Almost Hilarious, But Ultimately Disappointing
timothygartin16 October 2019
This movie is clearly a satire on the grindhouse genre. It has a lot of clever parts to it and I really wanted it to turn out better than it did. The problem is not in the ideas, but it is in the consistent execution. I like the over-the-top dramatic acting, except sometiimes the characters aren't over-the-top. I like the laughs from the "poor editiing." These remind me of old Benny Hill sketches with poor editing. These laughs come occasionally and are the best part. A lot of the other laughs aren't very funny. They are just gross or they are just stupid people saying stupid things.

I'm glad I watched this one, but I would never watch it again.

Tribute to the old grindhouse movies
huffmanhorrors24 February 2018
I picked up She Kills at Family Video. I was happy to find it and gave it a spin. I liked the film for the most part. One of the selling points was the tribute to the old style grindhouse movies. It was also my biggest problem with the film. Director Ron Bonk tried so hard to be a certain type of film he forgot to make this one more his own. It is like a greatest hits of scenes from other films I have seen. But they did it first and they were original. There have been many films it seems trying to do this type of tribute film. It's all one scene after another copied from better movies with a bunch of animated digital scratches thrown on it. Ron's film is better than most. I think he knows about these types of films and maybe even experienced them. But I also feel that this style he chose overall kind of hurts the film. She Kills has enough crazy and original ideas that it did not need the gimmicks. I really loved the Sadie character and I think Jennie Russo did a very good job. Overall the acting is in pace with the story and the overall feel of the film. It is over the top. Some of it is fun and pretty well done while some is a bit annoying.

Taking inspiration from films like "Thriller: They Call Her One Eye" and many exploitation films of the 70s, She Kills moves at a good pace and has good technical quality. The sound design is fun in places and the acting, while not great, is fun and ads to the insanity. It's a wild ride to be sure, and one that I intend to take again when I rewatch the film. There is so much going on, I am sure I missed some of the gags. Action moves pretty quickly and the lighting is really good as well. I have to hand it to Ron and his team for going places many films only hint at, without making me regret watching. It's still all in fun. So many films today seem to just push atrocities in my face and tell me it is entertainment. It's not. It is disgusting and I turn it off. Ron keeps things fun and light, no matter how nasty it gets.

Ron Bonk also did one of my two favorite Hi-8 segments so I am looking forward to what he does next. After the disappointing Empire State of the Dead, I feel he is back on track with this film. It is a good movie to watch with friends who are open minded and get a laugh out of movies like this. In the end, I was entertained and that is what we watch movies for. I gave it 5, and would have gone a bit higher if so much of this didn't feel stolen from other films. But I give it an A for effort! Makes a nice triple bill with Night of Something Strange and Dreaming Purple Neon. All films that express love for an age of cinema sadly long gone. And all of them, like this movie, are really crazy movies where anything can happen, and probably will.

Mahogany before Marriage
nogodnomasters1 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sadie (Jennie Russo) is gang raped on her wedding night and her husband is killed. She is let go and then decides to get revenge armed with a deadly V.

This is a very camp film the spoofs the rape revenge genre. Bad effects, bad dialogue, and bad acting by design. It is like a tribute to Ed Wood.

Guide: F-word, sex, rape, nudity (Jennie Russo, Danielle DiBiase, Jamie Morgan, Stacey Longo)

Tacky grindhouse throwback
Leofwine_draca23 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
SHE KILLS is a Z-grade horror effort that manages to be tacky and offensive in equal measure. Women are very much treated as sexual objects in this film. The main actress, who really isn't very good, has possessed genitalia that kills men, but this is only part of the story. The main thrust of the narrative is a rape/revenge thriller in which the protagonist goes after a biker gang who murdered her husband. It's awash with graphic nudity and cheesy gore effects, all accompanied by loud icky sound effects. I found it too ridiculous to take seriously, and attempts at a '70s grindhouse atmosphere fall flat.

OMG! Just Don't!
Foutainoflife7 December 2018
I'm gonna be absolutely honest here. I only watched 15 minutes of this. It is some of the most ridiculous acting I have come across in a really long time. When I started it and realized that it was going to be rough, I allowed it the 15 minutes to at least give it a chance. I just couldn't do it. I've seen 3 year old kids act better than this. This is supposed to be a rape revenge film but I've seen chihuahua's rape stuffed animals more viciously than this!

I have absolutely no idea how this has a 6.3 rating. I hate when I read reviews that talk about fake scores but this film is one of the first films that I've come across and can honestly say that folks have been REALLY, REALLY, REALLY generous with their ratings.

If you want to take your chances on it, by all means, do so. If you do start it, you are a real trooper if you can make it past 15 minutes in. You've been warned!!

To Watch, Or Not To Watch?
Tweetienator21 October 2019
A bizarre and grotesque wonder. I understand everyone who is tempted to rate She Kills a 1 but I also get if some may be tried to rate a straight 10. Well, I got well entertained by some gory and very funny and very absurd moments - so a rate of 7 it is from my side. Worth a try if you are able to enjoy very absurd, grotesque movies with a high trash and low budget factor (production and storywise) + overacting in a style that it is somehow reborn almost superb again.

My Review Of "She Kills"
ASouthernHorrorFan23 September 2015
Ron Bonk's story is a hilarious ride into insanity, and sexuality. "She Kills" takes all the character flaws that fans of cult cinema celebrate in the b-movie genre, mixes it with a heavy dose of campy tasteless fun, and pops out an unhealthy amount of fun, tacky, gory awesomeness. Honestly I think this may very well be the first time I have seen camp and trash cinema from a straight man's point of view. Normally John Waters' movies, and the few new indie directors in the LGBT community are the ones who bring these awesome blends of style, and humor together in such an over-the-top way-and make it work. I laughed a lot while watching this movie. Everything is so visual, spoofy, and insane. Ron Bonk "goes there" in his play on the whole "revenge kill", grindhouse genre.

The special effects in "She Kills" are cheap, practical effects that are obviously cheap, but the way that they are used it doesn't matter. They are meant to be seen as cheap, practical, gory, and gross. The special effects, music, and cinematography style that Bonk goes with in this cult cinema comedy are all meant to be exactly what you see on screen, and it is all just fun, cheeky, entertaining madness. Overall "She Kills" is a great indie flick for the spoof, grindhouse/trash cinema fans who really dig the cheap and tacky stuff. It is a film that I will have on my shelf and watch over and over. Now this is not gonna appeal to the straight laced, serious grindhouse, revenge cult cinema movie goer, because everything is just so over-the-top, and yes you can even say - "shticky". Still I feel everyone should check out "She Kills" out. It will make you laugh, gag, and above all else you will be entertained.

(Not) forgiving
kosmasp26 August 2022
So I did watch this first - and then the movie this is supposed to be a sequel of. I don't think you have to watch the other movie before this. Or at all - but if you really dig this, you should watch the other one too. If possible in the right order. Not because of any story developments (I know good one, right?), but because this is better than the other one. I am standing up for that (no pun intended).

But yes there is innuendo to say the least - and there is the notion of trying to make even the most horrible situation funny. I am not sure if you can see the humor in the "Benny Hill" style ... sexual abuse of someone. If you remind yourself that it's just a movie, you may be able to let things go. I am just warning you and telling you what to expect. What you make of it ... that's up to you.

That said, a lot of nudity, a lot of blood effects and a lot of really insane "otherworldy" situations ... and humor! Above all it is the humor that will make or break this for you. And how "sensible/sensitive" you are ... because this literally takes not prisoners ... and when I say this, you could put that in the pun column too ... you've been warned ... or encouraged, not sure to be honest.

Wow. Just wow! And I don't mean that in a good way...
paul_haakonsen7 September 2020
I sat down to watch the 2016 movie "She Kills" with the expectation of it being an homage to the Grindhouse movies, and even IMDb have the movie listed as an Action/Horror movie. Well, it should be labelled as a spoof actually.

I managed to endure about 30 minutes of pure torment that is known as "She Kills", then I was ready to claw my eyes out. Not only was the movie having an amazingly boring storyline, but it was also brandishing amateurish acting that was dubious at best.

Sure, I get that the movie was intended to be this way, with questionable acting and having a dubious storyline, as a part of it being a tribute to the old exploitation and Grindhouse movies. But "She Kills" just failed to pull off the spoof in an enjoyable manner. And for me, it ended up being a catastrophic eyesore of a movie.

The dialogue was as heinous and cringeworthy as the acting was. And the things that took place on the screen was just uncomfortable to witness.

I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as "She Kills"; I just wasn't part of that audience.

This is without a doubt one of the worst ranking movies I have ever stumbled upon. I was not entertained the least from what I suffered through those 30 minutes, give or take, nor were I enjoying anything that transpired on the screen.

My rating of "She Kills" is a generous one out of ten stars, simply because I cannot give it any lower rating than that. This was a total swing and a miss from writer and director Ron Bonk. And I can in all honesty say that I am not ever going to return to watch the rest of this movie.

Utter Insanity
vbites6 November 2016
How do you write a review about something so WAY over the top??? Funny!!!!!!! The performances were terrific, direction good. My favorite part of the whole movie was when they cut to a police car from a movie from like 50 years ago. And somehow, it works! And then Trey Harrison's character giving the 'I'm watching you' sign...endlessly. The makeup effects are intentionally low brow and even that works. You can tell this movie was made in good fun and I'll bet they had a blast making it. Still, all in all, surprisingly good production value. Nice editing. Cinematography that works for this...kind of like how the shaky camera worked in the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Good job, peeps! If you're looking for a fun night of movie watching, seeing something I can guarantee you've never seen before, this is your flick.

Dill Dough. Yup, It's Porn.
bemyfriend-4018414 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Porn actors and actresses on a side project. If you like the image of a woman dill doughing a man; you'll like this movie. Nothing but pure sadism. Monsters emanate from her veg to kill men. She absorbs men into her veg to crush them. Even some kind of wind comes out of her veg, to tear a man apart. If this is your thing, then it's your thing. It's porn.

Disgusting
themermaidseawitch6 July 2021
I fail to see how disgusting violence against women is entertaining. Shame on the people who made this stupid senseless film. This film never should have been made. Just goes to show you how depraved society has become.

Nice poster!
BandSAboutMovies5 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Sadie's husband has been murdered and she's been assaulted by a gang called The Touchers on the day of her wedding. That attack has unleashed a horrific power deep within her and an insatiable desire to get revenge with the newfound power of, well, her lady business. Satan himself has laid claim to her sex but she's learned how to harness its powers to be some kind of orgasmic Ghost Rider.

Written and directed by Ron Bonk (House Shark), this movie has something to offend nearly everyone, from cats used as nunchakus to a casual disregard for every person in the film. It also has the kind of bad acting that is trying to be bad, which usually turns me off on a movie. But hey, the challenge was revenge and this is the one that I picked.

This movie will probably split people. There will be a "How transgressive!" group of people. Equally, there will be folks that say, "What a badly made movie." And then there will be people who say, "Instead of watching a movie inspired by Thriller: A Cruel Picture, why don't I just watch that movie?"

I leave it to you to figure out just how much I love Christina Lindberg (actually, I can't measure it).

Bad Bad not Good Bad
greggman10 September 2020
I like b-movies. "Toxic Avenger", "Class of Nukem High", "Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead" but they have still have more than good ideas. Even in a b-movie execution matters.

She Kills really needed an editor. The scenes just drag on, the cuts don't come fast enough. Further the acting is horrible. Of course I don't expect good acting in a b-movie but it's like everything was done with zero practice and on the first take. Lines are poorly delivered, no umph, it's like their reading the script instead of acting the lines.

There's lots of great and hilarious ideas and if they'd figure out the acting and the editing this could have been one of the great b-movies but as it is it's just frustrating to watch.

So Bad. It's Actually Good.
AmbientD219 March 2022
This parody to 70's Grindhouse movies is good. Yes. There are scenes that made a lot of reviewers very uncomfortable, that they were unable to watch the entire film. Those scenes of sexual assault in She Kills, were made with a comedy element. Not like the scenes with the movies "Thriller :A Cruel Picture, AKA They Call Her One Eye, I Spit On Your Grave, Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom and other sexploitation movies that didn't tone down the sexual assaults. Those two movies that I mentioned, those sexual assault scenes were brutal. Here in She Kills, they took a lighter touch and even paid homage to Thriller with the eye patch as well as other exploitation and mainstream movies. The sexual in nature scenes were more of a comedy gross factor, than making the viewers think that this could be an actual assault taking place on film. The filmmakers and the actors are all in on the joke. They know it's a bad movie and they put their all of the worst into it. With double stand-ins, burned film, the dialogs doesn't switch up with the actor's mouths, the use of a dog and a cat being used as weapons for a fight, the use of not to scale models of buildings, roads and cars. There are even scenes with the crew in the shot.

It's a funny film. You have to stay with it. It doesn't go down easy, but you will laugh and groan at the same time.

The worst movie of the 21st Century.
mhorg201815 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING: DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. I'm not kidding here. DO NOT WATCH THIS. It is THE WORST movie of the 21st century and I should know, I've seen most of them. How this atrocious piece of land fill got a 5 amazes me. The lead actress Jennie Russo, other than showing her really nice breasts at the drop of a hat, couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. The leader of the 'villains' she's out to kill, some loser named Trey Harrison, is even worse. Now, I've rooted for bad guy to get it in a movie, I've even rooted (The Blair Witch Project) for entire casts to get it. In this piece of trash, I rooted for the Crew and Cast to get it. Terribly stupid story, absolutely horrid acting, incredibly bad sfx and directing. Just a truly bad, bad, bad movie. If you want to see a good movie about a killer vagina, see TEETH. Everything about that movie is ONE MILLION times better than this. Hell, this makes the crap the Sy-Fy channel shows look like classics. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
