Live from Richmond, VA

Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jerry Lawler

On the previous edition of MNR, Shawn Michaels collapsed during his match with Owen Hart.

Ahmed Johnson Vs Rad Radford.

Johnson wins with a Pearl River Plunge. This was a basic squash match to keep Ahmed's momentum going. Radford is Louie Spicolli, by the way.

½*

Jerry Lawler taunts Ahmed with insults until Dean Douglas comes down and says he has to go through him to reach super stardom. Ahmed challenges Dean to a match, but the refs come down and stop it before things had a chance to escalate.

It's announced that Shawn Michaels has Post-Concussion syndrome.

Aja Kong & Tomoko Wantanabe Vs Alundra Blayze & Kyoko Inoue

Kong and Wantanabe win when Kong pins Inoue after a spinning back fist. This match was OK. This was Blayze's last appearance on WWF programming. Aja Kong was going to be pushed to the moon until Alundra Blayze showed up on Nitro with the Women's Title, dumping it in the trash. WWE and WCW were competing over women's wrestling at the time.

**

For some weird reason, the Brother Love show is back. Brother Love's guest is Bret Hart. Brother Love says Bret is a marked man. Bret keeps trying to answer questions, but Brother Love constantly interrupts him. Bret finally gets to talk after a myriad of insults by Brother Love. Bret calls Diesel cheap and says he always was cheap. He says he's gonna beat The British Bulldog at In Your House and prove that he's the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bob Backlund randomly comes out and slaps on the crossface chickenwing to Bret.

Thoughts.

Not the best segment by any means. Bret's promo was decent, but Backlund's attack reeks of "been there, done that"

Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs John Crystal

Hunter wins with a pedigree. I'm not even gonna bother to comment about this squash match.

Owen Hart is issuing an open challenge at In Your House. He says whoever the opponent is will end up just like Shawn Michaels.

The Undertaker (W/Paul Bearer) Vs Sir Mo (W/Ted Dibiase)

Kama comes out on crutches and can't face The Undertaker. It turns out, Ted Dibiase has paid Mo to be Kama's replacement. Taker wins with a chokeslam and once again has possession of the urn. King Mabel and Yokozuna come down and corner The Undertaker, while Mabel nails Paul Bearer to steal the urn. This was pretty crappy and not exactly a way you wanna end your show. You would think Yokozuna would learn his lesson about messing with The Undertaker after their history in 1994, but WWE sucks with continuity.

1/4*

Final Thoughts.

This was a big step down after the previous week's episode. WWE wouldn't become good consistently until about 1997, but signs were beginning to show that things were beginning to turn around. I'd pass on this episode if I were you.

How is Shawn Michaels?
clayface923 March 2020
The opening match is Ahmed Johnson versus Rad Radford (Louie Spicolli). Jerry Lawler interviews Johnson after the match. We hear an update on the condition of Shawn Michaels after he "collapsed" in the ring last week. For a change of pace, we get a women's tag team match with Aja Kong and Tomoko Watanabe taking on Alundra Blayze and Kyoko Inoue. This is easily the best thing on the show. Brother Love returns after a long absence to interview Bret Hart. I doubt that anyone was clamoring for Brother Love to return. Hunter Hearst Helmsley makes short work of John Chrystal. The main event is supposed to be the Undertaker versus Kama, but Kama is supposedly injured, so Mo takes his place. Worth watching for the women's match.
