Hilarious

This short film is funny from titles to credits. Nicki Legge has written and directed another entertaining piece that showcases the talents of her lead actor, JP Frydrych. If you're into noir style films and want to see a screwball/wacky version of Sin City, give Who is the Mannequin a shot. You won't be disappointed.

The color work is impressive and, though it's a short film, the silly story is strong. JP Frydrych plays the part to perfection. He dances on the edge of going over the top without actually taking us there. The cinematography is certainly a throwback to films from the 40's and 50's. It's really a fun film and it leaves you wanting more. I'm sure that we can all rest assured that we'll see even more fun coming from the Jump Ship Productions team in the future.

Creative and Fun

Super creative little short from Jump Ship. It's a silly film, but a lot of thought went into it. From the art direction to the sight gags and of course the color work.

The noir genre has been parodied before, but this still feels fresh because it not only has some of the needed one liners and funny moments, but the playfulness of the color work and ridiculousness of the banana make it something you've never seen.

JP does a good job as an actor in this one. He has some great reaction lines to the mannequin.

There is a fight scene that I laughed out loud at. Definitely makes the piece.

Kudos on the short. Can't wait to see the next one.

A quirky take on the film noir genre.

'Who Is the Mannequin?' is written directed by Nicki Legge, Starring JP Frydrych and Nick Follmer.

JP Frydrych plays detective Bernard who finally cracks a case after 10 years by finding out who's the mannequin is. He invites a friend over to share the news.

This short film is a quirky take on the film noir genre. It contains all the elements of a film noir, like the obsessed detective with a drinking problem, the classic voice over narration and a great soundtrack. This movie add a comedy factor to it. JP Frydryck gives a good performance as detective Bernard who is a obsessed detective dedicated to this 1 one case, but also very clueless.

The story is great and they make use of color to help the story along. I love the soundtrack, it's just how a soundtrack for this genre should be and gives a great atmosphere to the movie.

Be sure to check this short movie out.

Strong Production

Jump Ship Productions always brings something new to the table. This film in particular brings a quirky, and funny turn on the noir genre. I applaud their skills as a production team. The production was not high budget, but Jump Ship was able to draw me in with their unique storytelling. The camera operating, and shot selection was appropriate and supported the quirky, comic edge to the film. The post-production work, especially, was done effectively and flawlessly. With these skills it would not surprise me that they push it to the next level in their following project. All around, a high quality production by a team that can handle any and all challenges. Definitely worth a watch!

Warning: Spoilers
The style was well thought and comprehensive throughout all aspects of this short film. The black and white film with the cynical character in full color, was visually interesting and alluded to the plot. The puppeteering was seamless. The film richly created a feeling of genuine interest in the character through both the acting, which I found captured the genre poignantly, and the film making expressionistic style. It was woven with perfect integration of classic genre music backgrounds to the low key lighting of the dark scenes, Jumpship succeeded and their work was well received. Looking forward to seeing this film in upcoming festivals!
