Acting is unrealistic, even the use of non-typical "models" for the nude scenes doesn't make the watcher believe this ever happened. A good premise lost to bad execution.

Dave (Aaron Bowden) or D. is not playing with a full deck. He is a creepy stalker who convinces women he is making a documentary to film their fears. We soon discover...in poorly shot found footage fashion, that Dave gets his thrills from killing women.
The acting was not that great. The filming was designed to be bad, and it was. Thanks for the FF nudity and the "Clockwork Orange" moment. Just because great film makers inspire you Walter, doesn't mean you can be one.

Very low fi

THE DOCUMENTARY is a very low fi indie horror flick which is a little reminiscent of the old black and white film MAN BITES DOG. It's presented as a pseudo-documentary about a filmmaker who goes around selecting female targets and then essentially stalking and killing them. It's a predictable kind of indie, lacking in merit, despite a certain amount of realism in the presentation.

This is one of the better found footage films of the last few years. It is not some Paranormal Activity or Blair Witch ripoff, it is original. It's well acted for what it is. and it makes you actually feel like you're watching found footage. It does have a few flaws but it is absolutely worth a watch. Or three, in my case.
