This Documentary Wasn't Called "The Gathering Swarms" For Nothing
strong-122-4788856 February 2016
From bees, to bats, to butterflies, to birds (and beyond) - If there's one thing that all of these (and many other) critters seem to like to do - That is to "swarm" (and oftentimes it's done by the millions, or even by the billions).

This fairly impressive Nature Series documentary from PBS takes the viewer on a trip to numerous locations around the globe where they are given an up-close look at some of the planet's greatest gatherings (swarms) of all.

These are the places where some creatures swarm together in order to breed or to migrate, some for protection (safety in numbers), and some to simply keep warm from the bitter cold.

Featuring plenty of excellent camera-work and informed narration - "The Gathering Swarms" is certainly well-worth a view for anyone who might be interested in watching some truly bizarre behaviour patterns where collective consciousness prevails over individual intelligence.

This DVD presentation has an approximate running time of only 1 hour.

Massive Hordes Of Swarming Wildlife Everywhere
As you are soon to find out while watching this fairly intriguing nature documentary - It isn't just us human beings who are noted for being big-time swarmers. No, it isn't.

From insects, to reptiles, to birds, and yes, to even mammals - Swarming is an activity that occurs naturally (for various reasons) among many different species of creatures from all across this biologically diverse planet that we all jointly inhabit.

I, for one, was really quite impressed with some of the amazing "real-life" footage of swarming bees, locusts, and bats that was presented in this PBS documentary. I mean, I found some of the intense, massive gatherings of these creatures to be downright frightening to watch at times.

NOT a science video
bbrraadd-4081416 October 2015
This is the worse documentary Nature has ever produced. This is NOT a science video. This is a leftist propaganda piece against individualism and in support for group control by one central authority. The authors extol the virtues of swarms dominating everything and how wonderful it is and that it's the only way to survive in this world. Swarms at the most are just large destructive forces and not the predominate method of survival in this world. The authors try to explain that there is safety in swarms but that is an illusion. In society the cops come after the crime has been committed not before or during. It is up to the individual to survive...the swarm only cares when the overall numbers drop not about any single individual. A bee or ant never wrote a song, painted a picture or went to the moon. Also never let anyone tell you you have to sacrifice your life experience for future generations. Your life experience is yours to enjoy and live. If the cycle is just that your life is only valuable for keeping the colony alive in the future then you no longer have your life. Major disappointment with the authors of this that instead of science they chose a political agenda for this video.
