Pretty Good Sophisticated Plot
Hitchcoc2 March 2023
I agree with those who are wanting the Palant thing to be over. Here we get to the ghost murderer. The name given the person implies a supernatural element which is pretty hokey. It turns out that what we have is layered plot that keeps us guessing. That's what this show should be about, cool forensics and discoveries. Some of the technology is a bit beyond belief. It reminds me of CSI where there seemed to be an unlimited supply of money and machines that were beyond belief. But that's not fair, I guess, because there would be no show without it. We also have Cam's romance here, but that was of little interest to me. Of course, Booth's possible promotion is still out there, waiting to be dealt with.

A Resolution We All Needed

Warning: Spoilers
I am so happy that we got to resolve the ghost killer case. I found this case interesting as no one believed Bones at first. I also enjoyed that there were many layers to this case. It wasn't just a crazy serial killer killing for no apparent reason. The killer was killing because she was abused herself.

In a way, we were also finally putting the Palant storyline to bed. Palant was the one who told Bones about this to begin with and by finding the killer it feels like a major "take that" to Palant.

We also got Caroline in this episode which was amazing. It has been too long since she has been in an episode.

Best part: "oh god why didn't I wait for the pictures?" - Caroline

Worst part: hearing about the fingernails getting torn off in that stall, yuck yuck yuck.

Pretty decent episode but not the purpose of this review.

I must remark about the vocal quality of one ancillary cast member of this episode. And that praise goes to a gentleman named Sterling Macer, Jr. He plays Deputy Director Victor Stark of the Washington DC-based governmental agency called the Federal Bureau of Investigation, commonly referred to as the FBI in familiar parlance. Mr. Macer, Jr. Will go on to play this same role three more times.

But it is the tonal characteristics of his voice that are of greater interest to me. While experiencing this episode with my back turned to the television set, I immediately noticed certain similar attributes to the speech of the late, great Lance Reddick - enough to think that when I turned around to view the actor producing such words, I would view Mr. Reddick himself.

While Mr. Reddick can never be replaced, Mr. Macer, Jr. Could take up the mantle of Mr. Reddick's smoky and seductive style. Perhaps in the form of Awoken Commander Zavala.

Oh, and fingernails.....gross.
