Difficult weekdays of the Winter War or Heroes of the invisible front: part one
lyubitelfilmov13 November 2021
Military adventures. I watched this creation of domestic creators ten years ago, and exactly in the correct chronological order, because the third season was filmed in 2010, and the first in 2012 (actually it is in front of you), so I will soon talk about this serial trilogy exactly like this. For the first time, I was pleased with this series, and now, after time has passed, and having gained knowledge, I decided to review the entire trilogy again and see if it is so good. And she's really good, though there were only disadvantages that escaped from me for the first time. And today we will talk chronologically about the first season of the trilogy "Military Intelligence", called "Northern Front". And here is my brief opinion for you - The difficult everyday life of the Winter War. I will write down both the expressive pros and cons that we met. And with that, I'll finish the introduction, and get to the point.

So, the expressive advantages: 1. The script - series tells about the formation of the main characters of the serial trilogy, namely about a group of scouts Pavlovsky, Tesheshev and Sushkevich, who arrive at the border with Finland in 1939, due to the tense relations between the countries, in the established intelligence school. They will have to go through difficult training and the first tasks, on the success of which the lives of entire armies will depend. I can call the script successful, well-written, interesting (especially for fans of that time period, and not only). All the characters are interesting and memorable. I'm not talking about dynamics at all. The tasks themselves are painted in detail, and it feels like it is based on real operations of the Winter War. And the final logically follows from everything that is happening. Not a single episode "sags", makes you worry about the characters. In general, if you miss interesting military series with a good script, then you are definitely here!

2. The heroes are the trinity of scouts, Captain Dubko, Major Korneev, petty Officer Kuzkin, cadet Brusnikina and so on. Each of them deserves special attention and detailed analysis, but there is simply no time for this (otherwise the review will be in ten parts). And the opponents are no less interesting, even though they are given less time, although this is logical, because the series is patriotic in the first place. You will not confuse them in any way, because everyone has their own character, even the manner of speaking. One petty officer Kuzkin (supplier) is worth something. Instructor Valtonen deserves special attention, because the red Finca is loyal to the Soviet Union, although the competent authorities monitor her, so she has a much harder time than the rest.

3. Humor - well, how not to dilute the harsh military everyday life with pleasant humor! So they did - and he is beautiful here in every sense. There is no vulgarity and dirt. But everyday jokes and a lot of funny situations will make you laugh heartily, and more than once. I assure you of this!

4. Scenery, costumes - the scenery was the place where the fighting of the Winter War took place, namely Karelia, so the environment looks very convincing on the screen. The costumes also did not disappoint, because the uniforms of the soldiers and commanders of the Red Army with budenovki, characteristic helmets, three-liners correspond to that period of time, so by the way the Finnish uniform with German equipment, Suomi submachine guns, Opel trucks, chevrons. It is clear that the creators consulted with knowledgeable people, so the immersion in the era was successful.

5. Fights, shootouts - dynamic, logical and spectacular. Although there is a budget shortage, but even in this form it looks good. You get real pleasure from these episodes. After all, we do not forget that our heroes are scouts who enter into battle only as a last resort, if there is no other way to complete the task.

So, disadvantages: 1. Inaccuracies - there are enough small shoals, yet this is an art series, not a documentary about the Winter War. Therefore, there is no desire to dig into this for a long time.

2. The Finns have Studebakers - but you need to pay attention to this, because such a historical mistake is very striking. The fact is that the Finns could not have had a Studebaker at that time, because Finland's main ally at that time was Germany, which had been arming the Finns for a long time, and the German Opel truck was the transport vehicle in them, and the Studebaker was an American car that began to be produced in the USA only in 1941, and the duration of the series was 1939-1940.

3. "The Maynil incident" - in the series, the blame is again blamed on the USSR, which is strange, because no one even remembers about "peaceful" Finland, although the Finns longed for war much more, because they looked better in the role of "victim". The creators clearly forgot about the almost twenty years of nationalist propaganda of the Finnish government, about the construction of trenches, pillboxes, strengthening and increasing the army, about establishing ties with Germany, about the atrocities of the Finns during the first and second Soviet-Finnish wars, when they behaved on our land no better than the German fascists of the 1941 - 1945 model. The creators also forgot that the Karelian Isthmus and part of Karelia were torn away from the Soviet Union as a result of the first Soviet-Finnish war, so in 1939-1940 we returned our lands, namely ours. And after that, our filmmakers take the side of the Finnish White Finns in this matter (yes, ideology also plays an important role). It's not patriotic at all. Therefore, ignorant people who will look in the comments, the so-called "Finnophiles" should not write their own version. For such comments, get banned immediately! Immediately and without warning. Remember! The Finnish White Guards started the Winter War!

A little bit about the main characters: 1. Captain Klim Pavlovsky, played by Pavel Trubiner, is an experienced state security officer who, after being wounded in Poland, was forced to serve as an instructor at a reconnaissance school for the time being. An experienced scout who has been in trouble more than once. Pavel managed to embody the image of a smart, savvy and devoted to the Motherland servant, on whom our Motherland has held, is holding and will always hold, and Pavel has experience in such roles.

2. Alexey Teneshev performed by Stepan Beketov is a Moscow intellectual who chose the path of serving the Motherland. A young, but savvy and promising young man who will have to test all his best features in practice. Stepan definitely succeeded in this role.

3. Mikhas Sushkevich, performed by Philip Azarov, is a Belarusian who always touches the intellectual Lech with the word "Moskal". An ordinary village shirt is a guy who always covers his back. He becomes a friend to Alexey and together they have to complete a series of dangerous tasks.

The music is also good, although the main theme prevails.

Well, a little more whining about the "great terror", but this is relatively little in the series, but it was comforting. A special agent from the NKVD played the appropriate role of an annoying character, but is shown by a man who is just doing his job. There is no inflection towards the "bloody chekist", as it has been fashionable for the last thirty years.

The sequels "The First Blow" and "The Western Front" fixed the images of the trinity of our scouts, but I'll tell you about it next time.

As a result, we have a good military adventure series about the Winter War of 1939-1940, with a good script, good music, excellent scenery and costumes, charismatic characters, good acting, although not without drawbacks.

My rating is 8 out of 10 and my recommendation for viewing!
