All Blond Surfer Dudes Are Fake . . . .
sundayatdusk-9785921 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the saddest episodes of the series. A young teenager is often home alone since her father is a policeman who works at night, her older brother is often out and her mother died years ago. She and her friends like to talk to guys online. All totally innocent fun, except she makes the mistake of giving guys her home address, so they can send cards.

One male contact sends a picture of him where he looks like a teenaged blond surfer dude. (This is one of at least three times in the series such a picture is sent, and all the blond surfer dudes were no such thing.) One night, when a friend is staying over, it sounds like someone is in the house. She and her friend barricade themselves in her bedroom, but eventually come out. No one is there.

Did she not tell her father about the incident? Do they not have locks on doors? Do they not lock doors to the outside at night? Apparently not and they appear to live off the beaten path, with no close neighbors. Well, one night, when she in on the computer home alone, someone comes in again. It's the blond surfer dude, who is actually a middle-age pervert from California. He kidnaps, rapes and kills her before killing himself.

If only they locked their doors. If only they had a guard dog, like a German Shepherd, who could have brought the man down, and probably kept him from even attempting to come in the house. Even a much smaller dog would have warned her someone was outside the house, or trying to get in the house. If only she didn't talk to strangers online, and didn't naively give them her address. If only . . . .
