existentialism versus selfishness
annuskavdpol20 December 2013
Hard Light is about the life of one artist and his journey back to his roots. The artist and writer seemed to lead a life of indulgence and then he changed and wanted something more for himself. Themes such as grief, loss and happiness were key. The landscapes of Newfoundland were beautiful and the artist / writer / lead person in the movie was a man that did undergo hardships. The movie title indicates the good and bad in the world, the light and darkness. I wonder if the main character in the movie had any mental health symptoms. Perhaps his early childhood showed signs of turmoil and hardships, however he was able to create his own reality and make sense of his own world and he was open to psychologically revealing himself through the lens of the filmmaker who also seemed to be part of the narrative.
