A vicious war between two nations is coming to a head, and the final movements are centered on the sailing ship Cassandra. When Bernice receives a message from her old friend Caitlin, saying that she's found evidence of a ruined civilization on the mining colony of Karthos, the good professor is naturally intrigued.
