A Significant Improvement
SHU_Movies10 January 2024
Episode 3 of Marvel Studios' Echo is a significant improvement over the first two. Although it's not exactly great so far, on the whole, it's miles better than most of what we've gotten in the last few years (not only looking at Marvel Studios, but the comicbook movie industry on the whole).

It's quite predictable, but it's telling a good, short story with interesting characters and unique stakes. The action is great and overall, it's shaping-up to be way better than I ever expected!

Back when it was first announced, I was questioning if I'd even watch it, but here I am on Day One binging it and actually enjoying it! Hopefully the next two episodes of the series can be as good as this one!

Echos boldest and best installment but still on par with episode one

Warning: Spoilers
Some minor spoilers going forward but nothing major Now- Now once again the introduction of this episode was really cool. Kingpins entrance at the end was like a horror film. Main action sequence and plot overall was solid, echo building a gun from a piece of scraps in a storage room gives me iron man 3 vibes. Some great moments in this episode for sure, definitely the strongest of the series so far. If the action sequence was just a bit more gritty and bloody and maybe less rushed ide give the episode a 9. Yeah the episode was great, Alaqua Cox is great, the action is pretty solid but I think my favourite aspect about this show so far is the overall development of mayas ancestral heritage and the chemistry between the charcaters in the show is above average when compared to the boring cringey dialogue seen in some marvel projects at times. 8/10.

Improving(SPOILERS)

Warning: Spoilers
After episode 2 I was hoping they'd pick back up speed and was right to do so. First off, the flash back tracing back her roots are the most interesting thing so far. I don't ever remember echo having powers in the comics but I could be wrong on that but this seems to be leading to that conclusion. The action in this show is incredible. The suplex through the machine was an awesome moment. I also love the blade in her boot and the sound it makes when attacking her enemies. Fisk retiring at the end there was great and has me very interested where they are going to go with his character. The supporting cast are all very talented to especially the guy who owns the roller skate rink and her grandfather. The family aspect of this show is what keeps me the most interested.

It's not improving... it got worse

Warning: Spoilers
I really don't understand reviews saying this was an improvement, this was by far the worst episode until now. None of the decisions in this episode make any sense.

For starters we have that intro scene which I believe will be important in the future episodes but it was just boring and dragged out.

Then we have Maya getting kidnapped by 3 people, who leave her hanging in the ice skate rink, but why? When she immediately falls.down they tie her up in another room. Why not lock her up in the room immediately?

After a while she manages to set herself free but instead of doing something useful with it, she just waits until they come back and she pretends to be tied. That's a classic move where she pretends to be tied so she can kick ass, right? Nope. She reveals that she is untied by grabbing a phone for no reason whatsoever, then proceeds to punch her friend for no reason whatsoever and the bad guys, with guns, just leave the room and let her remain untied. What is happening???

Then, this character who was never seen building anything in her life, just turns full Iron Man and builds a laser pistol with rollerblade parts.

Did I watch the same episode as everybody? Were the writers on drugs? Both? I swear I have not watched an episode this bad for a long long time...

S1.E3 - Just Mediocre [6/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E3) My Live Reaction / Review for Echo Season 1 Episode 3 ''Tuklo''. The previous episode was boring and I gave it a rating of 5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. That black and white intro was too long and it sucks. The silent scenes are annoying. So far I don't understand the R rating, there is no blood and gore, I hope soon will see that. Once again with the silent scenes, it destroys the atmosphere. Maya is able to fight many men twice her size and makes it look easy. That's a bit ridiculous. Also she kills people or am i wrong? I thought she is a hero? And we get a good cliffhanger where Kingpin shows up. Echo is not interesting at all as a character, she always has the same expression, completely dull, wooden. She doesn't deserve to have her own show in my opinion. Overall the episode was mediocre and I give it a rating of 6/10.

Warning: Spoilers
The whole skating rink is so cool. And the way Maya fight the bad guys in the skating rink is so freaking cool.

The whole Maya and her friend reunited was so and the riding in the motor cycle was so school the skating rink reminds me of Stranger Things Season 4.

The shocking part of the whole episode is that Kingpin strikes again with Maya i can not wait for the next episode it's going to be awesome.

What got me the most is that Kingpin wasn't dead! And that Maya knew that Kingpin was alive when something happened to her. What an ending. I love this episode a lot it was awesome what a great episode.

Really good

I liked most of this episode, except a few dumb decisions of Echo. It is a common thread in the shows that when the writers do not know how to put a character in a given situation in a plausible way, they just write the character suddenly becoming dumb or a complete jerk without explanation.

I am loving the intro scenes telling us the story of Echo ancestors and it is very interesting to me to learn things about the North American tribes. Also, I enjoy the fact that they use sign language. This is so realistic and I think the main actress does a great with her facial expressions. I love her interacting with her family, especially with grandfather. And the action scenes, even if they are not the best ever, are fun to watch.

Tuklo
Prismark108 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The episode opens with a flashback featuring Tuklo. A native Indian girl who wanted to be one of the Lighthorsemen just like her father.

The Lighthorsemen were the mounted police created by native Indian tribes to deal with increasing crime on their lands.

Only women were not allowed to join them. They were regarded as life givers not takers. However Tuklo has powers to come to her father's rescue.

In the present day Maya and her uncle Henry are held captive in the bowling alley. Snitched by Vickie and his two female accomplices.

They have made a phone call and some goons are arriving to collect Maya. Vickie is hoping for a big payout to deliver Maya to them.

The only interesting part of the episode apart from the opening flashback. Was Maya's attempted escape being compared to Tuklo's action scenes.

The rest of it was humdrum. The conclusion was flat, in fact downright disappointing.

TUKLO

Warning: Spoilers
Disney's She-Hulk series premiered about Jennifer Walters' powers in the penultimate episode, which was originally planned to air after viewers had become familiar with her quirky world. However, showrunner Jessica Gao claimed the change was for better understanding of Jen's backstory. This resulted in a rushed CGI and a tone that did not match the series' week-to-week expectations. This season's cameo-heavy premiere feels tonally distinct and slapdash compared to the more confident episodes that have followed. It's possible that history is repeating itself with Echo, as the cameo-heavy premiere feels more tonally distinct and slapdash compared to the more confident episodes. The mystery of Gina's life becomes a vengeance-fueled mission between two sisters, who discover her existence. The brewing mystery is ultimately squashed, leading to a complex web of deception and lies between the two women. The animosity between them is likely linked to the church fire, which may be the catalyst for the events. Episode 3 begins with an old black-and-white story of Tuklo, a woman who uses her ancestor Lowak's powers to save the Lighthorse Police from being denied the right to fight due to her gender. In the present day, Grandma Chula visits Grandpa Skully's pawn shop and learns she must let go of her pride before losing Maya forever. A bowling alley snitch, Vickie, plans to hand Maya over to Zane for a large payout. Maya has a vision of her ancestors and is ambushed by someone, leading her to find herself hanging upside down in the alley, where Uncle Henry is also tied up. Bonnie, a captive of Maya and Uncle Henry, arrives at a bowling alley to seek help. Vickie and his crew free Uncle Henry, but Bonnie is subsequently captured by them. Maya and Bonnie are brought to the same room where Maya is reunited with her old friend. Maya uses a knife to cut herself and Bonnie free, but Bonnie criticizes her for never returning home or her calls or texts. They engage in a scuffle with the captors, who cannot kill Maya for payment. Maya uses skate repair tools to escape the locked room, and the buyers arrive, recognizable as the crew from the D9-X shipment Maya blew up in Episode 2. The buyers kill Vickie after realizing he is no longer capable of handing over Maya. Maya uses bowling alley equipment to take out the buyers, but Zane arrives with a gun to Bonnie's head. They are about to execute Maya and Bonnie when they receive a call to fall back. Maya promises to protect Bonnie and sends her on her way. Over halfway through the series, Maya faces a grand showdown with Kingpin, who has outgrown her power and is now the new crime boss of New York. Wilson Fisk will play a significant role in Daredevil: Born Again, so Maya may be making a mistake in challenging her former uncle.

Pro: Episode with Least Amount of Synthesizer
infinitetyler13 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The opening scene is pretty cringe and very current-day, but I'll give it credit for setting the time period in a creative way. Even the transition after the credits was well done.

Echo's powers are so silly. I think they're going for a Doctor Strange psychedelic vibe with them, but it comes across more like a commercial for a skin care product. It's not very clear what they are or what her understanding of them is. They just kind of randomly manifest in different ways as needed.

The signing is starting to get pretty annoying, but then again so is the verbal communication. The characters are cartoonish when they're not cookie cutter cliches. I'm not sure how much more of this show I can watch, even for the lulz. There's so much filler and so many long drawn out sequences without any payoff, and the music is beyond awful until Rob Zombie does some heavy lifting.

Her powers get even dumber as the episode progresses. It would be cool if she had more than 1 facial expression.

Episode 3
bobcobb30115 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
And this is the kind of episode every Marvel show, be it one on Disney+ or one on Netflix, has to give us. There is a hostage crisis and there some clueless villains with weapons.

It was a huge copout how it was resolved though, but before that this is the kind of TV I have been hoping that we get from the show.

It just begs the realism question though of why Maya would allow herself to be put in a room by people she could easily destroy, only to fight off a lot of the goons later on. This kind of weird imbalance impacts every Marvel project, but I just don't know if there is any way to correct it.
