Very Good but not as good as the high ratings suggest
adrithasage8 December 2023
This is fantasy romance drama with a great lead in Jung Yoo-Min. She's incredibly stunning her presence of camera always draws you in. Her performance also makes you easily fall for her and route for her. You could feel the wave of emotions she goes through. You smile, cry and laugh with her through it all. The main lead guy is a great compliment to her as they had great chemistry.

The show is very well made and unlike most K-dramas it doesn't drag the plot. It moves very fast to its conclusion which makes this a good drama to watch. It's not perfect but the supporting cast do a great job as they played their roles well. You know they're good when all they do is leave a bitter taste in your mouth when they're on screen.

I liked it very much although the last episode was underwhelming. It's always like this with most K-dramas they usually don't know how to close out shows. They usually end up doing the most but it wasn't that bad. Nevertheless it's a great series but definitely is a bit overrated by many viewers like many other shows.

Low budget high quality
workytest8 January 2024
Yes, It's a low-budget drama , but it has a lot of unique things, nowadays drama doesn't have. The simplicity, the excellente chemistry, the no exaggerated acting, and most importantly the warmth vibe.

To be more specific, I'm talking about the ML and FL. The others were so annoying except the ML's mother and grandmother ^^

Lastly I had a crush on Sung hoon during "My Secret Romance" and Idk why, but he disappeared suddenly, till now I heard about this drama and I renewed my love for him, I really want to see him more, his natural /warm acting and charming appearance should not get wasted.

Btw: Why do I always end up liking the less popular actors with beautiful talent, but zero luck? This man right here (sung hoon) has a huge potential but unfortunately misguided. He need to challenge himself and try other genres beside romance.

Pretty Good Romance With A Fantasy Theme
PalmBeachG3 December 2023
Usually don't care for romance themed mixed with fantasy but this is one of the few that I liked. It was intriguing to tune in and and see how the FL would get her revenge on her previous husband and family and the mystery behind the ML kept you wondering and wanting to come back to view the next episode, especially as you could see he liked her and the romance was budding. It was good to see ML Sung Hoon in a nicer role as was just getting caught up on another popular drama (Marriage and Divorce on Netflix) where a new season is going to be released very soon - and he was not so nice to his wife in that series. So nice to see him in a contrasting role at the same time by watching this. The only thing I didn't like about this series is that there was a long wait sometimes between episodes while being aired and the timing of release on Viki at the same time of another popular marriage/revenge drama that was confusing at times. Enjoyed it though and there was a good match between the ML and FL for chemistry.

Great Adoption of the Webtoon.Fairly realistic!!!
koolkiks30 October 2023
The ratings are so high for a reason. This is a superbly entertaining drama. Every episode is exciting. Many series falter towards the latter third but Perfect Marriage Revenge doesn't let up of a minute. But it isn't just dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. It keeps within plausibility. The hypocrisy of society is laid bare. How different people deal with infidelity is another issue tackled head on. The most heart breaking aspect is the effect of battling on impacting all your loved ones.

The cast is well chosen and act very well. Not an easy task. SungHoon really shines. Fans will be thrilled Bang Sung Hoon. And the success of many a dramatic scene rests on his effective but not overdone performance.

The soundtrack is delightful and effective. Gripping and all too close to reality. The script, the performance, everything about this show will blow you away. Surprisingly, this K-drama delivers a very compelling and realistic glance at those intricate relationships and charged moments one married faces, while getting involved in infidelity. Acting, sound, cinematography and emotional involvement - worth it!!!

Perfect entertainment!
priyashashank796 December 2023
What a surprisingly perfect show! I am a fan of contract marriages, revenge dramas, romances involving revenge and family dynamics, and this drama had it all. The actors were a pleasant surprise too, since I was seeing most of them for the first time, including the leads, and that when I have watched over a hundred K-Dramas already. I loved it that the story concluded in 12 episodes, and there were no unnecessary stretches that needed skipping or forwarding. I finished the show in two days flat, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting drama that keeps you hooked from start to finish!

RARELY A SERIES EXCITES ME AS THIS ONE
edwbxjlow25 November 2023
From the very first episode, I am becoming immersed in the drama and feeling excited every second. Before I start watching an episode, when I hear that it is that day, my day fills up with happiness and excitement. I just love this show so much, even though the plot has been very overused in Webtoons, this is the first TV series that uses this plot as far as I can remember. The webtoons were fun and entertaining, even though I have not read the webtoon of this, I am very satisfied with how this series is turning out. The reviews speak for itself. I highly recommend this show to people who love romance. The main actress's expressions are just so beautiful, you feel all the pain, all the tears. They are a very beautiful couple.

The best revenge is massive success.
danigerch17 January 2024
There's an argument to be made about how Perfect Marriage Revenge had a perfect execution because it was a 12 episodes long drama and didn't have time for unnecessary conflicts. Everything took its right time and was resolved in a cohesive way with the characters development.

Both leads were compelling and had amazing chemistry, but the secondary characters were equally interesting to watch. All the performances outstanding and you can tell the actors are enjoying themselves in their respective roles.

On a story about a woman looking for revenge against her own family, this kdrama had a perfect balance between makjang and romcom. Making it an easy and fun watch. I highly recommend it!

Telenovela korean style
hanalisss3 December 2023
Perfect Marriage Revenge left me somewhat pleasantly entertained, but the widespread acclaim and high ratings have caught me off guard.

It's a low-budget revenge drama featuring lesser-known actors, and while the acting is passable ( at least for the main leads), there's a tendency for over-the-top performances, especially in dramatic scenes. The storylines and plots are straightforward and simple, bordering on cliché, reminiscent of Latin American telenovelas with their impossible plots and surreal twists.

The drama introduced a time travel element, which, in my opinion, had untapped potential. The creators could have delved deeper into this intriguing aspect, but it felt underutilized. However, the romance between the main leads emerged as the drama's highlight. Their chemistry was palpable, injecting a spark into the narrative. Unfortunately, the backstory and the time travel arc could have been explored more extensively to enhance the overall depth.

Despite its predictable plot and unrealistic twists, managed to be entertaining so if you don't have anything else in your watchlist, give it a go.

In love with the storyline, the leads to the supporting casts🔥🔥keep up the good work everyone.

Every episodes has a drama, revenge and nerve wrecking moments. It refreshing to not wait till the last episode for the revenge to be served.

I love the male and female leads, they have a great chemistry together. The second leads too I'm loving them, they doing a great job of being villains😂.

So far the drama is amazing, and I sincerely hope they keep the momentum till the end.

A lot has been reveal so far, i'm looking forward to see what is in store to keep the storyline interesting till the end.

Must watch drama
athiranv22 December 2023
For the first time I can say that one drama did proper justice to the original webtoon. When the announcement of this drama came out I was very sceptical about it. But after the first episode itself I was super impressed. Each single character did an amazing work. I was actually surprised to see that they were able to conclude the entire webtoon in the 12 episode drama. Few important points weren't included in the drama. They could have been included if it were a 14 or a16 episode drama. But again it could have been dragged unnecessarily.

Main leads -10/10 Chemistry-10/10 Story -11/10 Engagement -9/10.

You don't get to decide what "being like me" means
alaningle723 March 2024
Jung Yoo-Min plays Han Yi-ju who is the adopted daughter of a well to do family but sadly her life is made miserable by her step sister and step mother and others around her. She is involved in an accident and is transported back in time to a year previous where she decides her life will be different. To exact revenge on those who have hurt her in the past she enters a contract marriage with Seo Do-guk played by Sung Hoon who is the son of a conglomerate building company. It is an interesting idea and overall an entertaining watch although it does appear a little hurried at the end. The step mother is played brilliantly by Lee Min Young and the daughter by Jin Ji Hee and I am sure they must have relished their parts as they are both cartoonishly evil.

Dramatic and Cheesy
nelufaralam19 December 2023
Unless you enjoy slow paced, melodrama, family and business drama this show isn't for you. It starts out strong and then it completely loses it's charm. I realized the clips that got me interested in the first place are the only actual interesting scenes in the show. This show has high ratings and people loved it and I respect that but tbh it ain't my cup of tea. I was on my phone most of the time after the 4th episode and I don't know Korean that's how disinterested I was. The ML is an absolute green flag and she is the typical Cinderella, did not have any problem with that. But the stepmom and her daughter needed to tone down their over acting. I had to forward or mute their scenes. As nice as the main couple were you will be left wanting after each episode. Guess there wasn't much story to tell between them. The business drama is extremely boring and family drama was cheesy and cliché. Overall this has to be one of the most overrated show of 2023.

must watch this drama if you are searching for unique drama
anchalchaudhary-102099 January 2024
This series has all components what a viewer look for Romance, Fantacy , Time travel , Suspense , Cruelty etc. Whole plot is interesting but it got slow and boring with some unnecessary exaggerated scene.

The plot is different from other K Drama, it is more likely like Indian sop opera with a cruel step mother and sister.

Lead Actor Jung Yoo- Min have done such a phenomenal acting that you will fall in love with him and even the supporting actors have done such a great job.

I would have have given it 10 star, if there would be more love scene or cute moments, but overall must watch this drama if you are searching for unique drama.

Revenge is best served (hot, cold, it doesn't matter
leahcubed28 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
9/10 is my rating. This is a 2023 South Korean romance, revenge drama with 12, 70 minute episodes. It is based on a popular web novel of the same name.

First I provide a unique synopsis then Review

Synopsis

Han Yi-joo (Jung Yoo-min) is engaged to marry her childhood friend, Yoo Se-hyuk (Oh Seung-yoon), whom she grew to love. She is the eldest adopted daughter of a family that is low level wealthy with one of their family endeavors being art. Her cold, mostly uncaring of her adoptive mother, Lee Jung-hye (Lee Min young) has made Yi joo's life miserable yet she still seeks her approval. To gain her mother's favor, Yi-joo learned to perfectly imitate famous as the standard her mother set to measure her ability. Yi joo's world crashes down when she learns her mother was passing her imitations iff as authentic and seeks to frame her and that her fiancé was only using her. Emotionally devastated she gets in a near fatal car crash. As she lay dying she wishes for a chance to do it over and get revenge on those who wronged her. Seo Do-guk (Sung Hoon) Is the man her evil younger sister had her talons in and he discovers her duplicity early on, and also the depth of the evil Yi Joo's family is perpetrating against her.

Review

If you are a fan of revenge dramas this fits that bill while also having a really sweet romances woven through. It ends well and happy.

Spoilers

The evil step mom in this is so thoroughly evil it is hard to imagine what she wouldn't do. Not only does she abuse and poison Yi joo, she contracts to have people murdered, holds an artist in captivity to have him paint and sell his art, and drugs her husband.

I liked Donguk's mother, grandmother and sister. They were solidly on Yi Joo's side when they discovered what her adopted mom had done to her. Jung hye's cold demeanor and evil plots were like a blend of "Flowers in the attic" and "Mommy Dearest" level evil mother. It was satisfying when she was taken down.

Glossy, great cast but sometimes weak story
phd_travel11 January 2024
For fans of Love Marriage Divorce this glossy revenge drama should have been great fun. The cast has so many familiar faces from that show including Sung Hoon and Lee Min Young. It's great to see the lovely Lee Min Young in a lead villainess role all dressed to kill. Total contrast from her sweet role in LMD. Also some of the older generation are here too like the Professor and Golf Resort owner. I enjoyed Jung Yoo Min in Red Balloon where she really shone. Everyone is well dressed and elegant. Even the older generation is great with Lee Mi Sook and other top older actors.

This is a makjang style revenge drama. A woman is murdered but goes back a year and changes things. The cinderella gets her justice. It's quite satisfying to see the bad guys get punished one by one very clearly. It's not rushed for the end like some earlier revenge dramas. In fact the happy part is very long. But some parts of the story are just not well written enough. The villains are too one dimensionally simplistic. Unlike better revenge shows PMR has weak scenes and is often not exciting. Some of the characters' actions and dialogue are unconvincing. There isn't enough humour either. And I did not feel an emotional connection with the characters. Didn't love or hate them. At least Penthouse was funny if over the top. Btw Jennie from Penthouse plays a villainess here. The direction is oddly stiff and unnatural and the pace is monotonous. I don't know why they made the heroine Jung Yoo Min act in such a way. Often just staring blankly. She was so good in Red Balloon. Towards the end there is an interesting twist I wasn't expecting that brings things together.

This is a slightly disappointing show after the brilliance of Love Marriage Divorce which was so wise and funny. But I still had to watch it because it was so great to see the LMD cast again. The most interesting thing is their outfits. Oddly there is another show with a similar premise Marry My Husband. Hope that one is better.

Missed its potential
u-241109 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If you have time and usually enjoy revenge and romance dramas, this show will definetely be entertaining. I was hooked for the first two episodes but after episode 4, it lost its dynamic.

Like most of the shows, the script was too weak. There were many missed potentials but somehow script writers chose their characters to be two dimensional. The best part was they did not drag the love between ML and FL too much. However after their honeymoon, they suddenly started to act like an old couple that are married for 50 years.

The step mother was described as a perfect textbook villain. All black but no grey features. The story of ML's brother, his story and actions were very promosing at the start but writers again chose to make him a two dimensional villain like the step mom. The actor had great chemistry with FL's evil sister and I expected more in their story.

The chemistry between ML and FL was the best thing in the show and made this show more enjoyable.

My new favorite genre
elc200523 February 2024
I would classify this as "Kdrama - Melrose Place Style." It moves pretty quickly. It's not filled overly cliched Kdramas scenes (umbrella rescue, brushing teeth together, adults kissing with their eyes wide open.

The plot is straight forward with lots twists. Some predictable, some not.

The acting was a little eh in places but the FL did wonderful in her switch up. Sung Hoons voice sometimes is a little too deep so his lines come out like a Broadway performer but he's still pretty!

I'd absolutely recommend this if you want a more American night time soap feeling show versus a typical makjang.

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews2 February 2024
Korean Drama '' Perfect Marriage Revenge '' is a fantasy melodrama with a nice start.

The drama indeed starts off strongly, with the makjang vibes really rocking it, as the main female lead was being bitten down again and again by her evil adopted mother and her daughter. The love story that started to bloom was quite interesting as well.

And sure, there were some really idiotic things happening to the characters, but the melodrama allowed the story to be excused from them. The ending, however, and the episodes towards it, were all something that the makjang genre didn't support. The drama started focusing more on the romance, hence, it didn't have enough time to wrap up nicely the rest of the storylines. And, the fantasy element that was used in the first episodes and was forgotten in the middle ones, was brought out again, and wasn't handled smoothly, rather, it was quite rushedly concluded.

So, overall, four out of ten.

Quite good, but left me with a feeling of unsatisfied.
unrivaledraj2 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
For starters, I loved that the show had 12 episodes and not the usual 16 or more. It kept the show from getting dragged out or boring. Yet I skipped a few scenes in between of side characters as I knew what the dialogues and outcome will be of those scenes. It made an even better watch for me.

Coming to the story, plot and acting. It pretty much does what the title and description says. It revolves around revenge, with splash of passionate romance. Will come back to this bit later. The plot is simple and easy to follow, you can pretty much expect the twists and turns, however that didn't make it a boring watch. Acting was okay by the side characters, not too bad or good, but at some parts the evil stepmom did overract and the evil stepsister was quite good in her part, she acted well.

Now coming to the leads, and their plot and why I felt unsatisfied. This is completely personal, so other viewers may find it differently. I absolutely loved the two leads, I won't they are exceptional actors, but these characters were played efficiently by the two actors. FL was lovable, you feel sad for her, and you also wanna cheer for her when she wants revenge, her eyes spoke a lot and she smiles pleasantly. Same for the ML, his personality and voice was perfect the character, a brooding male who knows what he wants, and will do anything for the woman he loves, and the dude loves passionately, which was amazing to see in a kdrama, not shy or awkward to express his love care and concern in a physical way. From the very first scene they meet after traveling back in past, you can see the way he looks at her that he's already fallen for her.

Actually they both do that, their chemistry was so good, merely by the way their eyes spoke.

And this is also where I was left unsatisfied with the show, they had such good chemistry, and although the plot shows them to have a good relationship, love and a happy ending. It wasn't a linear progression. He already likes her, she has had some feelings too, though she's filled with revenge and a ticking clock, so she doesn't dwell into it, but after marriage he makes his confession during their honeymoon, but later she says that she cannot reciprocate the feelings and that she shouldn't fall in love. But then they make out. And then it's never really shown that does she actually love him, because she never says it out loud, or even in her own solo thoughts, the viewer isn't made aware of that. But in later episodes we see, that she's too in love with him and they have an actual marriage.

I kept wondering as to how and when this happens, at what point etc etc. But it's never shown, as when she realises her feelings, or tell him etc.

I wish they had dedicated some screen time to that.

It's a good show, the leads are amazing with their chemistry, definitely recommended.
