A waste of time.

Warning: Spoilers
When I saw that this cast contained a mixture of recognizable Hollywwod names such as Isaiah Washington and Vivica A.Fox, and Nollywood stars such as Genevieve Nnaji and Stephanie Okere, I had high hopes for this movie. However, the film turned out to be a big disappointment. I should have suspected that this film was going to be thrash when I saw that it was MTN that financed the movie, an act they kept on reminding us of throughout the movie with their blatant advertisements. One scene actually made me want to throw up.

Washington plays a cancer doctor coming to grips with the the death of his daughter. Adding to his burden, is his alcoholic wife played by Fox who holds her husband responsible for their daughter's death. The good doctor, in his desperate quest to save a boy dying from cancer, meets a Nigerian doctor who has strange healing powers. The Nigerian doctor is Doctor Bello delivered by Jean Louis in an intense performance.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said of Isaiah. Ever since his faux pas on a gay person which led to his being fired from the Grey's Anatomy, Washington has rarely appeared in a movie and it shows. If there was ever an actor sleepwalking in his role, it was Isaiah Washington. His performance was so terrible that I felt myself cringing with sympathetic embarrassment at the man who has shown some competence in other movies such as Out of Time with Clooney and another drama with Eastwood. Vivica A Fox, another Hollywood D list has been was not better.

On the Nigerian side, Genevieve Nnaji the so called Nollywood Queen was not allowed to showcase her talents as an actress. She was almost invisible in her scenes. Unlike Stephanie Okere whose bubbling character made her dominate the screen.

The story itself was apiece of thrash. What started as a poor version of Grey's Anatomy, then escalated to a watered down version of a medical thriller pitting a young doctor against corrupt medical corporations then degenerated into a boring Indiana Joneseque journey of looking for a miraculous healing potion on a Nigerian mountain.

Apart from a hilarious cameo from Jide Kosoko, the film was a waste of two hours. It promised much and delivered less than little.

The Worst Music Scoring Ever!
yojo-678867 October 2021
Whoever did the music scoring for this movie did a horrible job. It must have been their first time scoring a movie. The music was very excessive...almost every scene which was very unnecessary. It overshadowed the dialogue in the scenes to the point where you cannot hear what the characters are saying. How did the director, producers, editors, etc. Thought it was acceptable for so intrusive music I do not know. Music in a film is supposed to add and enhance the telling of the story of a film and unfortunately the music took away and hindered the film. I could not enjoy due to that reason.

OMG Cringe

What the actual F. The dialogue, the acting, the soundtrack. How do titles like this make it into production?

Good storyline, poor execution
ivetteairizarry25 April 2021
An odd blend of great actors and amateurs. Couldn't even hear the dialogue because the audio editing was so poor. Unrealistic scenes, such as a mother visiting her dying child at the hospital dressed as if she was going to brunch with friends on the Upper East side. People grieve differently, but come on. Much missed details. I don't know how they got Isaiah Washington and a few others to participate. With attention to detail and coaching, this could have turned out to be a great movie.

Powerful Movie asking and exposing the world medical system as satanic
johnstampp18 April 2021
The only critique I would give is that the cast line up is decent and good. The camera or quality of cameras used is evident in sound, visuals and the balance of voice volume with actions are evident. The Film is clearly telling a story. Over all the film could use warmth and gloss. This may be due to either lack of experience on directors part or the equipment and mastering of the film needed more time and finesse including equipment quality and standard. Still worth while to support African movies and the craft of african actors. Africa has a little distance to go in cinematography compared to India. This movie is important and exposes the darkness and maligned behaviour of the world medical system and pharmaceutical companies. Very powerful movie and ask the questions that need to be asked. Why would the medical system knowingly prevent doctors who can truly cure sicknesses from doing so? Greed , money, manipulation and control of humans. It is simply satanic and devilish at its cores.
