What does this mean for Maya and Carina??
fleurrdias-9313026 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Seeing Carina break down was so heartbreaking. Carina is so in love with Maya. She can't stand the thought of losing her and you could tell how relieved she was, when Vic told her that they'll get through this. She needed to hear Diane tell her that Maya isn't doing this just for her job anymore. Carina is so used to losing the people she loves. She's used to being put aside. To hear that her wife is making her a priority, that she's working to make things better, that she's being put first; it's something Carina has never known.

Maya's healing journey this season has been nothing short of powerful.

The fact that she confessed to the team about what she'd done, confided in Ben that she's afraid of losing Carina, and that she feels deep regret for what she gave Beckett. All these steps show that she is more than ready, to allow herself to feel all the emotions instead of pushing them away.

Maya saying that she felt like she was winning when she gave Beckett the alcohol really shows just how sick she was when she did it and also just how far she has come. She is able to identify that how she felt then is the same way she felt when she won.

Maya is growing. She is putting in the work. She was willing to go to the chief knowing the consequences that could unfold. Knowing she could lose her job because her guilt was eating her alive. Maya is very much human. Her mental health journey is very much human.

Setting is important here. Maya's sitting in the kitchen, alone, with her messages to Carina open. The guilt, the battery acid in her gut? She sitting with it. Silently. Moving through the pain, regret and shame. She's giving her emotions space to be felt. The bottle was the culmination of 6 months of hazing on top of decades of suppressed abuse. That Maya feels so guilty, that she is taking responsibility for Beckett's actions not just her own, regardless of what led her there, shows the depth of her growth and healing.

"I'm a monster." I'm so glad this scene exists and Ben challenged her on this. Maya did something awful. And she is deeply remorseful. She has the heart for it, the heart to apologize to someone who also hurt her. A monster? She doesn't even realize how good she actually is.

Story moving forward
ossie857 April 2023
"Could I Leave You" is an episode of Station 19 that delivers an interesting storyline for Beckett while also exploring the challenges faced by the rest of the team. The episode does a good job of building tension, and the climactic moments for Beckett's storyline make for compelling viewing.

The writing on this episode is solid, with a well-crafted story that draws viewers into the character's lives. As the team tries to keep it all together, their personal and professional struggles come to a head, creating an engaging and emotional experience.

The highlight of the episode is Beckett's storyline finally reaching a crescendo. Unfortunately, the episode suffers from some pacing issues, and at times, the focus shifts away from Beckett's story, which can be frustrating for audiences invested in that character arc.

Overall, "Could I Leave You" is a strong episode of Station 19, with a well-crafted story and a satisfying character crescendo for Beckett. While the pacing issues and occasional shifts in focus detract from the overall experience, the episode still provides plenty of emotional depth and drama, making it a worthwhile watch for fans. However, it doesn't quite rank as high as the other episodes of the series, hence this episode can be given a rating of 7/10.

Maya Bishop is brilliant and fabulous but this storyline needs to be over

Warning: Spoilers
Maya is the only reason I still watch this ridiculous show. So let me get this straight ... not a single person on the team with the exception of Ben has shown any support. And not a one of them has apologized for how horribly they treated Maya for months (or years of you start with her promotion). Because apparently the shows toxic message is that Maya must take all the blame even for the toxic actions of every member of 19. No let's be there for Maya meeting like they had for Jack. No welcome back like they had for Jack.

Then we have to listen to Maya continue to beat herself up. And the best part is we have to listen to her blame herself for Beckett's alcoholism. And only Ben is there to tell her that she isn't a monster.

And where is Carina? Whining about signing up for more pain. This storyline is toxic for mental health because Maya has no support and is doing this all alone. This would have made sense after the cheating not after a mental health crisis. Carina clearly doesn't love Maya enough to be there for her. Does love her enough to support her? All she does is yell cruel things at her, keep walking away, not respond to many of her text messages, not wear her ring, and keep telling Maya through words and actions that she is too broken to love.

This storyline is just dragging on for too long and is making Carina look toxic. We need our fantastic, force of nature Maya back ASAP!
