Great twist on a fascinating character
cvyost15 December 2012
While it can sometimes be a bit predictable (I've watched 10 episodes so far), I thoroughly enjoy Elementary.

The great twist? Lucy Liu as Watson.

The interaction between Holmes and Watson is wonderful and the show itself is enjoyable and entertaining.

I've read some negative reviews, however I base my opinion on the entertainment value. And Elementary does a good job - I hope the show will be picked up for a second season and we get a chance to see the characters develop.

If you're a fan of anything 'Sherlock Holmes' be sure to check out the BBC production called 'Sherlock.' Another good show.

Relations to the original stories

I can really see the relations to the original Holmes stories when I watch this series. Not the stories overall so much as the logic and the personalities of the characters. I love all of the original Sherlock Holmes stories so much, and I really like how they incorporate some of the lesser quotes that are still important in the stories. I've seen plot similarities in some of the stories to some of the episodes, but not nearly to the point where they're just doing a TV version of the texts, which makes it a lot more interesting this way. Having Watson as Lucy Liu is awesome, and I love how they incorporate the other characters too. I also find it interesting that they chose to start with Gregson rather than Lestrade. Still, it's awesome in my opinion. I even like it more so than BBC's Sherlock.
