Original and Unique
carmc-4677920 May 2024
Just watched this movie yesterday. This isn't your typical canned Hollywood production, if that's what you expect, this may not be for you. Rather, it is a thought provoking, soul affirming look at our humanness. It touches on several topics, that may or may not resonate for you, but for some this will hit home.

The location, lighting and music was very well suited to the overall feeling. Casting was well done, Diane and Neil were superb and the others did their characters justice.

My constructive criticism would be : the sound quality at times, a few flat spots occurred where it was too quiet and drawn out ( perhaps for dramatic effect) where music may have helped build that tension. There was one particular character twist that was too big a leap, for me. ( it needed more of a bridge or justification).

However, I am compelled to watch this movie again. Why ? Because there were subtle nuances in some of the characterizations that I feel I may have missed. It's one of those movies you have to watch again to truly appreciate.

Aside from a couple of corny jokes, and there was one that made me laugh out loud. It's not a comedy. It's not high action. It's a thought provoking, original and unique piece of work mixed in with some great shots, lighting, music and character reveals.

But don't take my word for it, watch it for yourself and see.

A thought-provoking apocalyptic thriller
moki-3813020 May 2024
I think this movie has a really unique take on the end-of-the-world scenario. It brought up a lot of questions and kept me interested in the characters and the plot all through the movie.

The story centers around a group of people in a bar as the world ends, and the devil appears, telling them they can save the world if they beat him in a game of russian roulette. I really enjoyed the writing of this movie. The dialogue is not on-the-nose like many Hollywood films. It's an indie movie that makes you think, and indie film fans will love the slow burn and all the twists and turns in the plot.

Given that the movie was made for less than $25K, it looks like a film that cost many times that amount.

It's well worth a watch and I agree with the filmmakers... if it's the end of the world and I can't get to my family, I'd find the closest bar too!

The Essence of an Indie Production
jackwilmorrison20 May 2024
Spin the Wheel delivers a unique perspective into the lives of people going through the final moments of a living hell and how they would react given the chance to change their current predicament (not necessarily for the better). Neil Chase captures the depravity and moral dilemma of individuals who have little left to lose while also showcasing a meta commentary on common tropes used in modern media without feeling the need to force it down viewers throats. Though a bit of a slow burn I found myself drawn in and wanting to know how it ends. The cast all stood out in their own ways and I look forward to whatever content Brimstone Pictures releases in the future.

As a side note, I've noticed quite a few negative reviews plaguing this and a few other indie projects. Not every project is going to be loved or well received but the best thing anyone can do is have an open mind and give everything a fair chance. I can't say Spin the Wheel is my favorite movie ever but I will say I don't believe the people who choose to review bomb movies in an attempt to negatively sway public opinion deserve the satisfaction of ruining peoples passion projects.

Do yourself a favor, watch Spin the Wheel and leave an honest review and help indie projects flourish through critical feedback as opposed to badmouthing and bashing in attempt to stroke your own ego.

**Worth the watch**
Recently watched this film and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good character development, well developed story line. It made you feel as though you could actually picture yourself in the movie. I would have liked to know the ending whether they had actually died and went to heaven or whether they were actually in hell being in the dive bar where it all takes place in. Perhaps the writer left that to our imagination which was probably the intention. Overall solid movie night watch with an original story. Also the music throughout was well played and the twists it took you on were well timed. Lighting was also notable with great use of color and ominous tones. Overall enjoyed the movie.

Suspenseful & Thought Provoking
cosgrec19 May 2024
Watched the movie yesterday and enjoyed every moment of it.

From the very get go, the movie creates an apocalyptic, dystopian undertone that lingers throughout the entire picture, making it suspenseful and engaging.

The characters in the movie are developed in a nonchalant but a very thought-thru way with non-stop twists that provoke a wide range of emotions of sadness, laughter, anger and more, but most remarkably makes them relatable with not a doll moment to spare.

This movie is not your typical Hollywood production that its only aim to sell, but rather a very well written, thought provoking, and meaningful picture that leaves you with something to talk about after and all the way through.

I honestly wish there were more movies like that nowadays, rather than flooding the mainstream industry with meaningless waste of time and resources.

No wonder this movie is an award winning masterpiece with such excellent critic reviews. Happy I bought it.

An Indie film Gem!
toddc-454-39598720 May 2024
With low budget indie films, you can get some stinkers and you can get some gems. Spin the Wheel is definitely one of the Gems, and really hits exactly what it was trying to be - and definitely deserves a watch.

Spin the Wheel is surprisingly well shot considering the budget - it easily looks as good as many films with 5x-10x the budget. Actually - I change my mind, it's NOT really surprising after all, because Brimstone Pictures' other films also all look great, so they've got the art of making films with a lot of bang-for-the-buck figured out.

And in the bang-for-the-buck department... the acting is pretty solid all round, the story is written pretty well and isn't predicable, characters are developed well in a short amount of time plus some well hidden and unexpected character twists... I mean, what's not to love?

Of course, it's not Shawshank Redemption or The Godfather... but it's easily worth the time to watch, and it actually had me thinking 'what would I do if I was there' and provoking that reaction is an accomplishment for any film. For me, it's a 'Thumbs Up' and a score of 8/10 for the indie films I've seen this recently!

Solid entertainment that deserves a watch.
csndrlnd19 May 2024
Spin the Wheel delivers exactly what it says on the package. You know going into something like this that it will be showing its indie film colors and it definitely does. The majority of the acting and production quality feels average at best, but there is some gold in there. There are some excellent shots, and the lighting style complements the tone well. Pacing feels right in this film. The slow burn at the beginning is nessessary for the story but short, and wastes no time getting into the meat of the plot that carries you to the ending with a deliberate, but not rushed cadence.

Some actors in this film are obvious stand-outs that punch way higher than thier weight class. While watching Neil Chase and Brandon Horth on screen you easily forget you are watching a film that cost less to make than a used Toyota Camry. The value proposition to the viewer here is fantastic, and a pleasent suprise in the end.

The negative reviews of this film is grossly over exaggerated. I can only assume they come from rivals in the production house's locale as this film is clearly a diamond in an otherwise unremarkable rough.

Spin is definitely worth your time, with the legs for an additional watch or 3.

Well written and creative thriller a bit different than the usual.
raymondrichmond19 May 2024
I enjoyed the character play and what felt to me like an interesting approach to an apocalypse confrontation premise. There is a solid focus on plot and character elements to keep the film engaging without resorting to flash and visuals I've gotten accustomed to seeing be used to make up for frequent inattention to substance in other films.

I would really suggest giving it a watch if you are into headspace thrillers and watching people react and change in a reasonably normal but still off-putting environment.

I will be keeping my eyes open for future stuff from these film makers to see how they and their art develops.

Different however captivating

Warning: Spoilers
This movie has a different story line and had me waiting what was going to happen next. An apocalyptic world where you have no idea what will happen and how it will affect you as well as others.

I liked the staging set in a quiet small bar or pub where some seemed to escape what was happening outside in the city to drink up on their last days.

Then this guy appears, seeming suspicious. I was wondering what trouble he was going to conjure up acting like a tough guy, paying attention to the girl at the bar. He definitely had me on edge not sure how he would play it out especially with all that was happening outside.

For a low budget film I found the actors seemed to admire the roles they played and the effort to grasp the audience.

Neil Chase played a creepy role and kept me on the edge of my seat. What his game was had an interesting twist.

I myself enjoyed watching the movie.

Great work everyone involved.

Not my usual genre
pnycsyyx19 May 2024
Though it's not my preferred genre, this is is a thriller that I can recommend. The plot was complex and interesting and the twists and turns kept me watching all the way through! More cerebral than many movies, the suspense builds as the characters try to make sense of their lives during their last two hours on earth. What really matters? Who really cares? Each of the well-drawn characters must answer the question for themselves. And Neil Chase really nails a unique version of the devil, who is clearly enjoying himself while watching them face the end of the world. Made me wonder - what would I do?

A Solid Thriller Worth a Watch
PotatoPanFlap4 June 2024
A great indie film that is a champion within its weight class. Pound for pound one of the best films I have seen within the genre. Some great writing and character interactions make it easy to forget its humble roots. I am curious to see what Brimstone Pictures develops in the future.

I was happy to see how much screen time Brandon Horth and Neil Chase had as their performances stood out and created some excellent moments and the most quotable dialogue.

Bottom line, worth a watch if you would enjoy an interesting take on a dialogue-forward, thought-provoking, apocalyptic thriller. Or if you are a fan of solid indie film-makers.

This has been an awesome movie to watch! Would watch a thousand times over and really great colourist and sound technicians on this film!

When I first saw it on Apple TV, I was pleasantly surprised to see character development and a great story line for an Indie film like this!

If you're tired of what's on Netflix and watching cheesy reality tv, this movie will get you intrigued and there will be twists that you never really saw coming!

Seriously can't rave about this film enough! The writer really hit the spot on this film and I think everyone should watch it.

Concept & characters make this a win for me
misstravelgirl19 May 2024
Though not normally a genre of movie I would choose, my husband was interested so we gave it a watch. It is dialogue heavy but I loved the plot - it honestly felt like it could (kinda) be a reality one day. I think the standout for me was that I was honestly "not in love" with any of the characters for over half of the movie, but by the end I was 100% emotionally invested and rooting for them - how did they do that??? So kudos to the writing and acting because I was certainly not expecting that, so this makes it a re-watch for sure. I also appreciated the perfectly timed sprinkle of humor throughout - definitely kept me engaged when I least expected it.

Very interesting concept
mandymorgan-0437529 May 2024
I wasn't too sure what to expect with this movie when I watched it. I really enjoyed it and it seemed like I could keep watching it for longer, the ending came so quick. I was engrossed in it during the whole film, and for a movie that had just one main setting, it really set up the story and played it through very well. The music supported the scenes very well, creating a sense of suspense, mystery, sadness, melancholy and the directors shots were on point. The character switches and dialogue worked very well, it was awesome to see the progression and seeing each character build up to the final message.

SPIN THE WHEEL keeps you on the edge of your seat!
crcmusiccanada30 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
SPIN THE WHEEL is the type of movie that draws you in through its deep gripping characters and intense topics. The story line is well written and exceptionally planned to keep you on the edge of your seat!

This intense movie delivers dramatic and dark scenes that brought tears to my eyes. The actors in this have now made me a new fan of dark- thriller-style films. I don't know if I should admit it, but Milton is a character that I could relate to the most.

I was also surprised at how many funny scenes that made me laugh that were created in this thriller too.

From the lighting used, to the original music, all these elements in the movie conveys a consistent evoking mood that I loved!

The ending makes you think there could possibly be a sequel SPIN THE WHEEL.
