Good Crazy (#7.22)

I really didn't care about Robin and Ted story. Seriously, the two of them are not interesting with that old "love story", everyone including the writers should just let it finally die. None of the scenes about that was really funny.

It was Lily, Marshall and also Barney who save the episode. Marshall freaking out about the baby, carrying the melon around was great. And the sneaky idea of Lily was making me laugh, especially when Marshall wakes up. The ending is also amazing, I can't wait to see how they deal with that.

Barney yelling at his grandma about Quinn being a stripper was also an awesome scene. The two are great together

if you are trying to get back at me you are choosing a wildly inappropriate time to do so.

Lily and Marshall hold their baby shower. However, Ted and Robin separately miss the shower on purpose to avoid seeing each other. Because Ted had been eager to avoid Robin for as long as he can, Barney encourages Ted to try online dating and sets him up with three specific women. all these women turn out to somewhat link her to robin.

Meanwhile, Barney's relationship with Quinn hits a bump when he offers her a job and she refuses as she likes her own job. With the baby's impending birth, Marshall conditions himself for various parenthood situations by using a watermelon as a practice baby. Lily is not happy with what he is doing and sends him to Atlantic city with Barney by saying it is a baby boot camp in the Paramus Waldorf. barney asks Marshall to switch off his phone in exchange for one hour of ducky tie time in which he gets drunk to the point he needs subtitles to speak. meanwhile lily goes into labor and leaves a lot of messages to barney and Marshall who have incidentally switched of their phone.

Appreciate the idea of this episode, but eh.

Warning: Spoilers
I've never gotten Robin as a great catch. I think a different actress...and better actress, with better stories, etc could have sold that idea better.

So Ted goes on blind dates and "sees" Robin in all them. And then, he see Robin all over the place. Nice idea, but execution could have been better.

And I don't think they ever established Ted being absolutely positively infatuated/in love/obsessed with Robin as this episode seems to try to paint it. Oh...Ted can't get over Robin. He's really torn up about it. Robin always was just one of many girls Ted dates. Never really seemed to be "the one"...and everything that comes along with it.

So, that story line just fell flat. I really wanted to rank this as 6, but was generous with a 7. Definitely not one of HIMYM's stronger episodes. Not one of the worst...cuz good lord there are some bad ones. This is fine. Has the essential HIMYM feel about...with just enough laughs to still be considered a comedy episode (?).

Drunken subtitles is funny.

Warning: Spoilers
For some explicable reason the TV channel I'm watching the reruns on, skipped the last episode, and went straight on to this one!! I hate it when it does that!!

Plot In A Paragraph: Barney has gotten to the point of being jealous of all the men his stripper girlfriend Quinn meets at work. As much as he likes to brag about her being a stripper, he does whatever he can to persuade her to quit and find another job. Meanwhile Ted still isn't ready to see Robin. To help Ted get over her, Barney persuades him to try online dating, even down to picking the women Ted should date. Meanwhile, Marshall is driving Lily crazy in his training to prepare for the baby's arrival, so she arranged for Barney to take him on a little trip.

Neil Patrick Harris features heavily in this episode, which is a good thing as the guy is a genius. Any project instantly becomes better once his name is in the cast.
