A Long Time Coming
bobcobb30125 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
TV crossovers appear to be a must have in the world of primetime broadcast programming, but especially have been ramped up the last few years given how desperate networks are for popping a rating. NCIS has had a few, but wrapped up their biggest one here crossing over all three remaining franchises.

It was a solid epsiode for sure that featured the right amount of action and some good exchanges between the characters of the different shows. If I had to make one complain it would simply be that they seemed to wrap things up a bit too neatly in the end without much of a rush or fight put up against them.

NCIS time for big crossover- review for the all story
Saving2111 January 2023
So after the Chicago Mega event, after FBI event after LAW&ORDER and of course the Rookie we now have NCIS mega event. But not like the others this was the weakest of the bunch.the story felt weak on all 3 parts. It wasn't awful it was enjoyable at parts but I think there were too many issues that hurt the story. One was it that wasn't full cohesive story from start to finish. Something about CIA rough team that is connected to professor at FLTCE and admiral Kilbride. It got to two kidnapping and agents working together. For me the big issue was the way characters showed up and disappeared. Now I get that these 3 shows are in different places so to go and get actors around it's hard when you still have to shoot your own show. But still they could do better job on that. For example Vance is there, the head of NCIS but we never see him with all his agents in one place that could have been great scene. I did enjoy seeing MacGee with Callen&Sam that was nice touch that since they didn't see each other since the back door pilot in season 6 but still there should have been more . On Hawaii Sam is kidnapped but callen his co partner is not shown up up until the last 20 minutes of the episode? They don't share scenes together ?Torres is not on Hawaii episode trying to find the kidnapping agents but he is there on LA? Why? When we finished Hawaii we had both Jane&Callen leaving together next episode Jane is there but Callen is shown to be there with Sam? And let's stop with the stupid Joke about woman taking over men! It's just sounds stupid and old these guys were handled by women before. And yup it should be callen taking over not her but the LA writing Team loves to downgrade their characters. The action on the third part wasn't bad it wasn't great either. I did enjoy agent Parker in this crossover he was the only one that made sense and looked like a leader to the gang. Still don't really take him as someone who knowing hetty but what the heck .Oh something else on NCIS LA they need to stop thinking we are in covid time they are working too hard to separate the characters. Deeks and kensi didn't share any scenes with callen and Sam even tho they were in the same building! Ugh maybe it's the reason this looked at times as a mess ,because LA producers still working on covid time .

"A Long Time Coming"
allmoviesfan18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
NCIS: All Stars! Take the best of LA and Washington D. C. (Torres and Parker) and throw in some of the crew from the new franchise on the block out of Hawaii (Tenant and Tara), put Admiral Kilbride in harm's way thanks to an old CIA assassination plot that he used to be a part of, have an agent kidnapped, have a lot of gun fights and end with a very cool action sequence in a graveyard for abandoned commercial airplanes and you have 'A Long Time Coming'.

Last week's episode was light and pretty fun with Kolcheck right in the middle, but 'A Long Time Coming' is classic NCIS: Los Angeles. Lots of action, and cool set pieces. Loved the byplay between the three NCIS offices. A little juvenile to begin with, but once they got on track, it was great.

And who didn't love hearing the disembodied voice of one Henrietta Lange halfway through the episode?

Great stuff.

Disappointed
denise-dargan3330 January 2023
The crossover was a complete disappointment. I haven't watched NCIS Hawaii since series 1 episode 3. The acting is dire and the story lines awful. Tennant is not a leader and certainly not a fit for this programme. How a 2nd series was started I will never know. NCIS New Orleans was far superior and the crossovers with NCIS excellent. To cancel Los Angeles is pitiful. The choice should have been to CANCEL Hawaii and bring back New Orleans with Pride as their leader. Looks like my only choice now is to just watch NCIS and hope their stories get better. I know lots of my friends here in the UK and other parts of Europe agree with me.

Weakest of the crossover
harrykivi1 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As said before, I have never been a huge of these crossovers "NCIS" has done since the 12th season. I just don't like when one story is cut into parts and you can only grasp the full story if you watch a series that has little to do with "NCIS" you love. That being said that crossover wasn't bad. "A Long Time Coming" is the weakest of the trilogy though.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of the episode are great. "A Long Time Coming" is very well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the cast is solid. Maya Stojan is compelling as the villain, I also quite liked Caleb Castille.

. The story is occasionally intriguing. The action scenes in particular are pretty exciting. Some of the banter between different teams is fun.

But...

. Not all of the dialogue is great, some of the jokes are really awkward. The story is the weakest of the trilogy- the mystery drags quite a bit at times and takes a lot of time to get people from different teams to work with each other. Too much of the story feels like filler.

Overall, an average episode.

5/10 HK.

The writing on this episode is simply terrible
guss-7729 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I mean, NCIS L. A. is not the smartest show at the best of times, but this was really bad:

  • Namazi just losing it out of the blue (we've seen her keep her cool under more serious problems).

  • Roundtree doing really good anti-interrogation until the badee pulls out the stupidest trick in the book and then he just falls apart.

  • They have Hetty out of the show and AWOL for so long and suddenly she reaches out?

  • Kensi being less than helpful with her "the neighbors were out so we left them messages, hope they get back to us in time to save our friend".

  • Torres directly spilling the beans about an ultra-secret unsanctioned murder plan to a person that for all he knows is a black market weapon dealer - and he didn't even need to do that, as that no one questioned him about it.

And so one and so on. None of that makes sense - but I saw the previous two episodes of this cross over and they're all just as bad. The original NCIS one made the most sense, so I thought what they did is let the original NCIS writers run roughshod over the entire shared universe, but looking at the writing credits, this isn't what happened - the original NCIS was written by "some guy", while Hawaii and L. A were written by their respective show runners - who definitely should know better.

I didn't get it
Sadie198727 March 2023
The story just doesn't make sense.

The Hetty thing didn't make sense.

The CIA thing doesn't make sense.

The OPS main centre is supposed to be top secret yet both agents from other offices know where it is, how to get in, and get no resistance upon entering - doesn't make sense.

No one knows anyone and with dodgy CIA guys about it makes no sense that they all trust each other. Laughably at one point Torres actually fonds out Deeks isn't even an agent (after seeing an arms dealer no less) and just shrugs it off - doesn't make sense.

The main issue I have is NCIS LA has previously done two storylines involving kidnapped agents. The first one being in the first season where the agent ended up dead. The second one was Deeks and Sam being kidnapped and Sam's wife ended up dying. Deeks was tortured beyond belief. This was pathetic in comparison.

Never surprises
tjmac_otr11 January 2023
It's been years since I watched an episode of NCIS Los Angeles. In a group of shows where reality has to be suspended, this one was always a step too far, LL Cool J horrible acting aside ( and that fact alone is VERY hard to put aside). I just watched the scene where the two agents were attacked while searching their bosses residence. Can anyone tell where from where the allegedly Muslim team member produced her weapon from? Because it wasn't from her previously viewed waistband. This show continues to be horrible. It's lasted this long so obviously opinion is in the he minority. I truthfully wouldn't have have even watched this show if it wasn't part of a three-series coss-over.

When I did watch the show, years ago, Linda H7nt and Miguel Ferrer were the only positives....now they're gone. So, we have a former CIA covert assassin who went on to become an Admiral.....yeah, suspension of reality indeed.
