Did You Know?
Trivia | Writer/director Kristyn Benedyk wrote this piece about breast and ovarian cancer awareness in February 2012. In June of 2012, a tumor was discovered on her sister's ovary that turned out to be cancer; ten days later her other sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. The dedication to making this a strong and powerful movie increased a thousandfold, and Kristyn became very clearly aware that her goal as a filmmaker is to make films that use humor to spread serious and important messages and information that can do good for the world in some way. In this case, Kristyn hopes that this film, and the feature she is working on about BRCA2, will help women with histories of breast and ovarian cancer learn that there are new advances in prevention technology. In August 2012, after principle photography of the film, both of Kristyn's sister's were pronounced cancer free. She is helping her sisters author a book entitled "Hey, Remember That Summer We Had Cancer" that discusses the role of humor and family in times of crises. See more » |
