Assume Nothing
kapelusznik189 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** Very confusing and disjointed Lifetime Movie that has to do with a serial killer on the loose in Ft. Lauderdale Florida who becomes an obsession with channel 8 news reporter Daria Valdez Morrow, Barbie Castro, after she lost her memory in a car crash with her wimpy and cry baby husband Sam,Casper Van Dien, behind the wheel. About the only memory that Daria has is when she and her mother were abased by her drunken and abusive father when she was 10 years old. This in fact has really nothing to do with the story since were never shown what her dad's abuse of her and her mother had to do with the killing going on in Ft. Lauderdale.

In fact we get a little side story here with Daria suddenly suspecting her soft in the head husband Sam as being the serial killer after she overheard him talk in his sleep about killing someone which was very properly this agent who got him the part in the movie! This has almost the entire film, after Sam's so-called confession, concentrate on Sam not the serial killer that in fact gives him cover to commit feather killings.

***SPOILERS**** We also have Sam & Darie's good friend newspaper editor Aron Banfield played by Armand Assante using what sounded like a Marlon Brando style speaking voice that made it difficult if not impossible to understand what he was saying, which wasn't much to begin with, without the use of English subtitles! The movie ends with a happy ending between Daria, who by them got her memory back, and her husband Sam after dining in a swanky Ft.Lauderdale restaurant. It's then that we finally get to see our old friend the mysterious serial murderer-The guy with the snake tattoo on his arm-who's just about to murder his next victim!

In a word - atrocious
ponzipossum23 July 2014
I had the great misfortune of being 'treated' to this utterly contrived pompous piece of cinema at a friend's house. One often wonders what's in it for producers and the financiers - certainly not box office gold. The script is utterly lame, predictable and down right infantile in parts. T he dialog and acting are unbelievably wooden and amateurish. the main characters appear to have been brought together through a blind date and compelled to see it through to the bitter end. I think the main clue to all those who may be considering watching this film is CASPER. I think it is now a virtual guarantee that any film with CASPER in it is unwatchable unless absolutely inebriated to the point loosing consciousness. But when a film that casts CASPER and ARMAND together spells cinematic bubonic plague - any contact can be seriously injurious to human intellect and aesthetic sensibilities.

Another LMN loser. Everything about it is boring and monotonous. Leading lady is so plain and one level acting school. Leading man is in love with himself and his supposedly sexy voice. NOT. I forced myself to watch to the end only to be able to back up my review. Also we are still cursed in watching the women with long straight hair. Flat head with part in the middle. They all begin to look alike after a while. Just the color of their hair. Thank God the men look better. Well groomed and healthy looking.

When a movie is boring to watch at least give us some good looking actors like the glamor days of Hollywood. We are now in the age of off the street performers acting like they never were in front of a camera before.

This film proves how far down movies have gone.

One star received for Roberts.

If I had been in the producing board, I would have insisted on firing lead and director. The actress playing the hypnotherapist was better than the assembled cast together, although appearing only a few minutes. WHO thought the lead could act?? This is slow, predictable, stupid and filled with "Ishouldreallytalkthisthroughwitwmyselfsothatevenelderly,zappingTv-viewersgetit" You know that a film is bad, when bad actors tell you the plot through bad dialogue. This is a stinker! Watching a color program on your washing machine is more rewarding. A V O I D!!!

IT'S A JOGGING INJURY
nogodnomasters26 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing says PU like a made for TV film with both Casper Van Dien and Eric Roberts. How could this possibly be good? TV investigative reporter Daria Valdez Morrow (Barbara Castro) is involved in a car accident with her perfect husband Sam (Van Dien). His mother just passed away. Daria was investigating a serial killer at the time of the accident. She awakens with amnesia and very distrusting of her husband, who she no longer knows. She starts to piece things together about the killer and being there is only one suspect....unless....

The film had pauses for commercial breaks. Nothing screams low budget like a black screen with people screaming. The acting and dialogue were AS bad as was the plot that plodded along leaving us absolutely nowhere other than the fact we knew who the killer was from the opening credits because...

PLOT SPOILER he always plays the killer in these low films. It was nice to see that it in no way tied into the rest of the idiotic plot.

TV safe. No swearing, sex, or nudity.

Well worth a watch.
As I said on my time line this is well worth a watch. It has something extra than the usual TV movie and is worth a 9 o'clock slot on Channel 5 USA or UK. It is the type of film that suits a sickie or a day off, and some tea and a cake, feet up and watch this. It has twists and turns and as the previous reviewer said it's not predictable. It is the type of little gem you add to your collection if you need something to amuse you in the future or to show to a couple of friends who are round for a film and a pizza. Great stuff it may have been made for TV but it's better than some of the disappointments I've been to see at the cinema this past year.

Pretty Good Movie
nfladavid8 August 2014
I watched the movie being made and thought this was a good movie when I finally got to see it. For an actress whose previous experience has mostly been in short films Barbie Castro is quite good and Casper Van Dien brings his usual talent to the movie. I really liked Christie Lynn Smith...both her acting and the character she played. The production is better than what you'd expect for a made-for-TV movie, maybe because it was originally planned to be an Indie theater release. As for the plot, I felt it had the right mix of suspense and drama and lush south Florida locations. Just when you think you have it figured out it goes in a different direction and it keeps you wondering. Perhaps it's not "Charade" but I would certainly recommend this movie.

A surprisingly good TV movie.
jhpstrydom28 November 2013
While surfing every channel there is each showing nothing interesting to watch I end up on the channel that was just about to start airing ASSUMED KILLER. I decided to quickly see what the plot was all about and saw that Casper Van Dien and Armand Assante was in it so I reckoned it might be worth a look. I was really very surprised by this film considering this is a made for TV movie it actually had a plot that drew my attention. It's the kind of plot that is not too complicated but it still requires your full attention, by that I mean if you're the type of person who likes to watch movies while texting you might want to put the phone down when watching this film and even though the overall concept isn't one of the most unique the good thing about it is it isn't entirely predictable.

The acting was excellent all around with the stand out performances given by Casper Van Dien, Barbie Castro and Armand Assante who were very well cast and they each play their parts very good from start to finish.

Lastly, there was one thing that almost made forget that this was a made for TV movie. Many other TV movies have a really cheap feel to them especially those in the same genre and the acting in many of these films range from not so good to not good at all and of course sometimes the dialog featured some very cheesy lines. Where with ASSUMED KILLER none of these factors are present. The production value is way above average and it doesn't look or feel cheap at all. The acting is excellent and the dialog is well thought out with no cheesy lines noticeable.

All in all, ASSUMED KILLER was a surprisingly good TV movie and happened to be a very nice find on a dark night with nothing else to watch.

Very good TV movie!
haroot_azarian31 July 2020
I thought the story-line was good, the sound and cinematography was good. Barbie Castro is just excellent as always. The only thing, Van Dien's glances and stares were pretty creepy and his acting pretty poor. Assante was average!

Well written script and excellent acting
jprado7213 August 2014
You should definitely watch this movie!! The plot line had twists and turns, which kept my interest peaked. I am not an easy critic, so am compelled to tell you that I was hanging on every word to see what would happen next.

The storyline is captivating and the actors seemed so natural in their roles, that it felt like watching real life.

Casper and Barbie Castro play likable roles as husband and wife. The latter played a role where she lost her memory, and is unsure of reality. There is some mystery in the end which leaves the story open to a sequel.

I hope to see this movie again on a major network, because I'm sure the movie has appeal to the general public and will intrigue and entertain the masses.

Suspenseful thrill ride, with Excellent Cast!
lilypupo5 July 2017
Concorde Films and Barbie Castro have some great gems in their "killer" series and their first one Assumed Killer does not disappoint. This movie is suspenseful, exciting, mysterious and with an all star cast. This is a great watch that will leave you surprised with all the twists and turns until the very end. Don't miss out.
