Poor but has it's good points

Warning: Spoilers
Right, Christmas is over and time to get back to normal, let's see what's on Amazon. Any Minute Now was advertised as a Horror with a rating of 3.5 stars, so I gave it a go. Now that's over I can get on to the second item in the 'Recently Added' list on Amazon.

The Story. In book form I can imagine it was a riveting read.

Screenplay. Not having read the story first I can only imagine that the screenplay did it justice because, as a story, it held together well visually.

Production. This was obviously done on a budget, as I found the sound and colour balance to be so poor as to detract from the story.

Direction/Acting. Was it a good director battling with mediocre acting or the other way around? The pauses in dialogue were overlong and felt artificial. The dialogue was often stilted, even with the two leads, though they did manage to settle into a rhythm toward the end. Most of the characters were believable, with the exception of the aunt and uncle whom, it seemed, had taken a course in overacting. They were Harry Potter's aunt and uncle on steroids.

Oh, yes and the ending. I won't spoil it but don't try and eat whilst watching it or you will choke. (And your sides will ache for hours afterwards)

Please don't ...

Well there's 104 minutes of my life wasted. I am at a loss trying to understand the scoring system on here, if there are no user reviews how is a score worked out ? Its Christmas eve and i am sat wrapping presents and i thought this movie has a pretty good score I'll give it a go... I really shouldn't have. The acting was just dire, Lee MacDonald was never really a great actor not even in Grange Hill and i guess there's a reason he disappeared from out screens. Anna, played by Mhairi Calvey who to be of school age looks more like she's in her thirties ( I am aware she isn't though ) The acting from EVERYONE in this movie is all awful! I cannot at this time think of a harsher word that is repeatable to describe it. I'd like to know who classified this movie as a horror, its not even a thriller, its only a horror in terms of how bad it really is. Truly unless you have 104 minutes of your life you'd like to give away go ahead and give it a watch. Personally i would rather watch my cat throw up.

Sit down, relax and enjoy!

I can't believe all the negative reviews for this wonderful and bloodless movie. Granted, it's the type of Ghost story that would be shown on "Lifetime" and as such, you won't see as much blood & guts as in other "Sicko" type movies. What I really think is that people in general shy away from British movies. Why? Maybe they have a hard time understanding the British, who actually speak the "Original English Language".
