The blood found on the cover of the boyfriend's truck covering was not tested because it was decided to wait until forensic science had progressed enough due to the small amount of blood available. I do believe that they have figured out how to deal with, and duplicate small amounts of dna to now be able to see if it is Patti's dna present. This should be done STAT! It is now 2022, and the last post I could find regarding an update to this case is dated 2021. I believe that they have figured out how to duplicate a small amount of dna to a larger amount of dna, so testing should be able to be done on the blood found on that truck covering.
