Nica Noelle's riff on FATAL ATTRACTION was a very pleasant surprise for me, as the trick casting of former tabloid/scandal headliner Amy Fisher paid off. The Long Island Lolita of over 20 years back turned erstwhile porn performer does a very good job and holds her own with screen veterans.
Nica has also raided the Adrian Lyne film library with a less effective version of his INDECENT PROPOSAL titled IMMORAL PROPOSAL, but FATAL SEDUCTION for her short-lived Sweet Sinema label is quite satisfying.
Evan Stone (star of both Noelle takeoffs) takes the Michael Douglas part, a successful architect married to gorgeous concert pianist Katsuni, who strays while she is away for a week at a Lincoln Center concert in Manhattan.
Amy is interviewing Evan for a magazine article and easily seduces him. With considerably more plot than she includes in her Sweet Sinner romance videos, Noelle develops a contrived but more interesting story outline than the Hollywood hit, as Amy then humps an old boyfriend Xander Corvus, insisting both "no condom" and "come inside me" ground rules.
We've already witnessed that the Evan/Amy clinch resulted in a cream-pie, so it's obvious what the sneaky vixen is up to. Since Amy Fisher in real life generated little sympathy, casting her here as the heavy (for which one only feels residual empathy not unlike that generated by Glenn Close's original crazy) is a deft touch.
Next twist is brilliant, since Nica is doing XXX versions, so it is only logical that Amy seduces Katsuni, leading to a very hot lesbian sex scene (the auteur Noelle's specialty). The new surgically improved Amy has breasts/nipples remarkably similar to the new improved Katsuni fka Katsumi (both modeled after the classic frontage of '80s great Krista Lane), and the duo wear identical extreme-false eyelashes, adding to the vignette's resonance. Of course Fisher's visage doesn't resemble Vietnamese/French Katsuni's, instead she sometimes reminds one of Cher (especially the enhanced lips), though most of the time she suggested to me a young Jackie Collins (who of course was an actress in British Bs before becoming the hit novelist).
Stone overacts a bit as Amy starts turning the heat up under him, rejecting his demand she abort their fetus (she's claimed he's the daddy), and there's a delightful moment of Katsuni and Evan together when both feel guilty, having both strayed with her but not knowing that fact.
Several other convincing twists keep upsetting the apple cart leading to an almost happy ending of reconciliation (accomplished by Katsuni & Evan in the sack), but an open ending since Amy's still out there up to no good. Nica wisely avoids both of the endings Lyne opted for, not the Madame Butterfly bathtub suicide (which tested badly) or the violent Close climax.
I thought Nica did a better job than Lyne in making both lead characters unsympathetic so as to bring out the material's noir flavor, and casting Katsuni in the Anne Archer role is an outside of the box (no pun intended I assure you!) creative choice beyond my wildest dreams.
The Sinema titles have bigger budgets than their similar Sweet Sinner counterparts, so the cast includes non-sex supporting players Mark Wood and Sarvina (both who work at Evan's office) plus some dinner party guests, who I identified as Wolf Hudson and Melissa Monet.
