You need to improve the ending
karentclark8 August 2023
I love this show but I think the ending sucks.....they get into the helicopter and fly away....the end... I want to see the winner/ winners congratulated for their effort for serviving 21 days and making it to the extraction point without being caught and I want to see them receive their reward payment at the end..and meet up with the caught contestants.....the way it ends does not feel like the end please change how you end it its awful. I also think the camera man that tags along with each team holds them up and restricts them....just give them all body cams and leave out the camera man keep it real.

One of the most cringeworthy shows on television
andrewjerome21 July 2023
The only reason I haven't rated this lower is because the gameplay element of the show is entertaining. But all the "drama" that happens in "Hunter HQ" is among the most cringeworthy television you'll ever see.

The highly staged performances in the HQ "Dave! We've just had a ping!" are so obviously scripted that you expect someone from HQ to look out the window, shaking their fist, and saying "I'll get you next time you meddling kids" (a la Scooby Doo).

It isn't even easy to take the game itself seriously when rule changes are implemented (such as freezing one team's bank accounts) to provide the hunters with an unfair advantage.

The premise for this show is well thought out but unfortunately, the execution is not worth tuning into.

the uk version runs for 6 days
rick-09019-0180521 July 2022
The show showed highlights of the day ..australia is far bigger country .i notice with australians are less likely to help runners and seem less trusting .In the UK version . Runners ask people to help and tell them they are being hunted 9/10 helped ...on the uk version it was shown and filmed on the same day and was not pre recorded so the public could phone the hotline if they spotted the hunters and get a reward if it led to a capture. Australian general public has no idea why these people are being chased so when they are aproached the public in AU i found a little rude and stuck up not even stop to ask its like get out of my face attitude ..so how many good samaratons in AU that helped was appauiling ..shows how good and curtious the brittish can be.

Highly staged
shiftingparadigms20 July 2022
This show is kind of fun, but very obviously staged, perhaps even scripted when it comes to the "hunters". The whole thing feels very inauthentic - which makes me ask "why am I watching this? Why do I care?" I haven't seen anything this fake in quite a while.

CHEATED

Warning: Spoilers
The Hunted series is quite exciting to watch and one of the better programmes on television. The Melbourne series though seemed rather far fetched given that the police were only just minutes away in most of the cases when they got a lead. There was also the case when one of the people asked for help by a fugitve helpers just happened to be a brother of one of the people on the hunted team. Then on another occasion the police decided to search two of the fugitives house (only this couple) and low and behold they found a notebook with all their contacts. These situations do raise doubts to this being a genuine hunter-fugitive situation but it may be a result of how the programme was put together. The rules seemed fair except that the police crossed the red-line in my opinion when, having spotted the extraction point helicopter, they were able to enquire on its destination. I call that cheating and this detracts from all the good detective work they otherwise did.

Great Version
jayrex31 March 2024
I loved this version of Hunted. Felt it was a great comparable show to the UK version. Especially loved the second last episode with the special effects makeup artist. And loved that those two made more money than they started off with, doing all those odd jobs. I think the other reviews below are harsh. I hope they continue this show. To be fair, I think they should do Hunted shows all over the world. Also loved the Hunters dialogue being so direct and a matter of fact. In comparison to our reserved approach, found it refreshing. The ones being hunted always want to do cheeky photos. I guess people just can't help themselves.

Plumbs new depths of embarrasing garbage.
Jeremy-60822 July 2022
The concept seems reasonable and maybe the o/s versions are better, but when it's cast, both hunters and hunted, with bogans trying too hard to be taken seriously - e.g. The hunters' favourite line is Go! Go! Go! Which they probably think makes them sound like real action guys but just comes from too much time watching D grade cop shows, there's just no hope. You can tell how desperate the channel is to drag this heap out of the stinking bog, by the relentless attempts at 'encore' episodes promoted by a guy trying to impersonate a zombie, which is an insult to real zombies. I switched channels and found a re-run of the ten hour live count of the recent federal election night, which had me stabbing my eyes with knitting needles at the time - and not the pointy end, the big round buttony end because I wanted to do the job properly - but compared to this deadwood, is 10/10 must-see TV.

It's just rubbish
phaselis25 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There are sooo many simulated and staged things in this show. It's a scripted and staged big-brother meets cloak-and-dagger, without any of the good bits.

They had to surrender their devices, have a known set of associates drip-fed from the producers that they have to reach out to, and there's no way that any of the surveillance and pings on phones are happening at all.

Every time the "hunters" run into an associate, they're happy to let them search the residence and answer questions. If it weren't scripted, every friend would say "pound sand".

Also I laughed so hard at the "hunters" running around with cell phones filming everything.

Save yourself the wasted time and avoid this one. The premise was intriguing, but the execution was rubbish.

Tourism Victoria Presents: A Disservice To Professional Investigators
wzrpmgmgg21 July 2022
As a cat and mouse show, this is fun to watch however it is largely scripted and framed in a disjointed manner. For those with a general awareness of the methodologies, this show is nitpick worthy.

Overall the show feels like a tourism department took an off the shelf show format to show off Victoria.

With a professional vs professional version and more linear editing, this would be a genuinely fun show.

An absolute stinker!
marilyncoroneos28 July 2022
This is by far the worst reality tv show Channel 10 has ever produced. Pure unadulterated mind numbing drivel. Everything about it was excruciating from the brain dead contestants, to the stupid the pretentious shaky camera work, and the phony hot pursuits, as well as the boofy swinging dicks in suits at HQ standing around, hands on hips trying to look important etc. One for the sewerage treatment plant...

Just when you think Australian television has plummeted to the depths of entertainment, along comes hunted. I just feel so staged or scripted it's not funny it's so fake.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
highlandvikingcelt4 August 2022
More social programming of things to come, especially in Australia where peoples rights are being stripped away at a record rate. Very fake "reality tv" with probably the same scripted actors you'd see lying in covid body bags having a smoke in between filming.

What is the point of this show seriously?

Unimpressed

Warning: Spoilers
Boring ....... The best bit was the two winners at the end. How are the stupid hunters allowed to jump people's fences into private property? They went onto properties with signs saying no trespassing. Talk about staged and we hardly seen anything about the runners.

The Twitter Feed Is More Fun Than The Show
KyleWasTaken31 July 2022
This series is finding its feet. It differs from its overseas version in the rules (the lack of for Team Hunter).

The producers are trying to make it seem like there is no bias but the hunters on the road and the HQ are so polarising that the twitter feed on a live episode points out how thug like these guys are.

Hopefully someone reads the reviews/comments and gives the show a new style for series 2.

Im concerned about our countries security!
neecoghlan7 August 2023
Its a worry that a massive team of pros with drones, trackers, helicopters, cyber experts etc are outwitted for 21 days by ordinary unskilled people without any devices or knowledge. The only reason some were caught was because low lifes dobbed them in.that shouldnt be allowed. Its like cheating as the hunters may not have found them otherwise.very disappointing. I would like to see a fairer game played.eg.hunters should not be able to search houses unless the owners say they can.fugitives helpers should not be giving the hunters their phones to look at. Its fake and not how it would really be. We are in trouble Australia lol.

They took a bad show and made it worse
Valentijn7815 April 2024
After watching several seasons of the Hunted UK series, my expectations were certainly realistic when approaching this one: the state surveillance capabilities were always going to be entirely simulated, and not very realistically either. But with the UK series they at least tried to make it look like a fair competition in the earlier seasons.

Hunted AU went directly into taking all the short cuts. Step outside in the back garden of a rando who let you hide out after you pled your case? Oh look, the "neighbor" saw and helpfully "called in a tip." Game over!

And don't even get me started on the sibling of a Hunter who happened to be hanging out in the countryside near a team (and their accompanying cameraman), coincidentally spotted the fugitives, and called her to turn them in.

I can accept the simulated detection of fugitives, but this series is just incredibly lazy and implausible.

Stupid, disconcerting and a complete waste of time
unclebob-347341 December 2023
I wholeheartedly disagree with the entire premise of this show. Why is the privacy of a private citizen or resident no longer sacred? Under what authority do these 'people' invade, track and monitor my communications, whereabouts and activity? Which act - local, state, territory, commonwealth or otherwise - permits this?

I do not believe that I have ever seen more unprofessional and pathetic excuses for 'intelligence' and 'detective work' than the people based at HQ. Inflated egos and little to no compassion. Why do they never change their clothing!?

Most of the ground hunters are rude, arrogant and/or unfit. Truly laughable that they think yelling "stop" to the fugitives will actually translate to the fugitives stopping in their tracks and voluntarily accepting to be captured. If one of these people knocked on my front door, my initial responses would be to get off my private property, turn off the cameras and come back with a legal warrant.

This piece of junk also reminded me within 15 minutes why I despise the entire concept of reality TV. Do not waste your time with this trash, I would rather watch grass grow.
