Very good - a gripping mystery
demaym1 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
There's not really too much that can be said without giving away spoilers, so I'll just focus on the mystery angle. From early on, the show sets up questions and suspense around the death of the lead - with good characters and a nice pace, I was gripped throughout. The final episode was particularly intense.

The acting was decent, the production was very polished and there's plot twists to keep one engaged throughout - however, some of the topics explored may be difficult viewing for some.

Lastly - It's a shame that the most popular and upvoted review on here is a negative one from somebody who admits that they switched it off during the first episode - how can you review a show when you haven't even seen past the first episode? Take it with a pinch of salt.

Highly recommended - 7/10.

Not the best, but far from the worst I've seen
peteratskegness19 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I binge watched all four episodes this evening - the fact I could stick with it to the conclusion suggests it is certainly watchable, ignoring the rather obvious woke sub-agenda that seems the norm in many dramas now.

The storyline isn't bad, a bit predictable at times, as was the ending, and the acting reasonable. It could have been done in 90 minutes rather than stretched out over four episodes. Annoying irrelevances like the relationship between the manageress and policeman should have been cut. The old man who committed suicide and was revealed to have molested his daughter could have also been cut, as the main storyline was solid enough to stand on its own.

The fun really starts in the last episode as the ghost (Lisa) gets up to all sorts of mischief to enact her revenge on her former boyfriend. Shame that part couldn't have been expanded more as, in an otherwise deadly serious script, it was the only hint of humour.

Always good to see use being made of heritage railways (Keighley & Worth Valley) too - as the additional finances will help them to continue to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Depressing ghost story that somehow doesn't ring true
JRB-NorthernSoul7 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm surprised this has been released on ITVX in December as its as un-Christmassy as you can get. Two ghosts at Peterborough station try and uncover why they are stuck haunting it and only able to talk to each other.

For me it was all too far-fetched, dull and depressing and slow to boot. Personally I'm out after the first one - it really didn't entertain me or grab me in any way.

Felt like a wasted opportunity to deliver a drama on a difficult subject. The lead character says at one point in the first episode 'none of it makes sense' and you have to agree with her.

Warning. If suicide is an issue you need to avoid, don't watch this.

Too many people spoiling this with their titles and reviews
markwalsh-617078 February 2024
Why oh why do people feel the need to give away the main theme in their titles and reviews ? Really, how annoying, and it seems that one can only do one reporting thing.

OK, I don't want to SPOIL a single thing as this is absolutely well worth watching. As for the person that left a review after watching just 1 episode, urm yeah well done. Please don't do this ever again. I reported that and asked that it be removed, but no can do.

This is a very decent bit of viewing for sure. It deals with some controversial issues but that's what life actually consists of for too many people.

It's not a hugely uplifting watch, as it deals with those topics that many don't want to acknowledge, but that makes for uncomfortable yet interesting viewing doesn't it ?

As for people saying that certain parts weren't relevant, jeepers it's a story that involves other people other than the main 2 people for goodness sake, that's how stories are. Sheesh.

The third episode disturbed me, a male, that has lived through a scenario similar to the one on display there, albeit not to quite the same intensity. But it got to me nonetheless. Once again that's confronting viewing that gets to you so isn't that something kinda good in a bad way. Not everything in life, or a TV series, is chocolates, unicorns and rainbows is it now.

Grit your teeth, give it a go and hopefully enjoy a show that will stay with you for a while after.

Oh and it might not be an actual 10 out of ten, but if a person is allowed to post a review after watching just the first episode, than I reckon I'm allowed to pump up the aggregate score. Cheers.

Jaw dropping and engaging
sorrelstokes8 December 2023
Amazing, troubling yet gripping. Great series that keeps you hooked, slow burn into intense sitting on the edge of your seat engagement.

Great cast list, definitely worth a watch if you like thrillers with a good psychological back story.

Don't be turned off by episode one, wait it out, you'll be gripped! Ending wise, seemed to be lacking but it was well put.

Demonstrates how intense some relationships can be, and you wouldn't even know it! Covers very sensitive topics, but very well written and adressed.

Could have more but definitely appreciate what was given, you can tell as i binged all episodes all in one day!

Predictable and poorly acted
ian_wilson123 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Poorly paced and lots of plot holes.

You can guess the ending from the second episode. The other 'ghost' character with the child abuse story is superfluous and adds nothing to the story, maybe it was a bigger part of the book but here it just seemed to be a way of adding a few minutes to the timeline.

Some of the acting is pure 6th form drama class, especially anyone related to the hospital.

The whole story could easily have been told in two episodes rather than stretching it to four.

It's a shame to see Jasmine Jobson go from Top Boy to something like this.

I had to double check that it wasn't a Channel 5 drama.

Outstanding

I binged watched this! It's so well written and done,it's only a shame there was 4 episodes, great acting from all involved, this series had me gripped from start to finish.

I'm not sure of the bad reviews if I'm honest, did we all watch the same series!!

The only thing wrong with it is it ended so soon and there wasn't enough episodes!

Would love another series although I know it can't be carried on. But absolutely fabulous well done to all involved. It did reminded me of the film Ghost when he went after his killer, and few other films I've seen. Fantastic supernatural series please give it a watch!!!!!! You won't be sorry.

Great thriller
mbayliss-4933724 January 2024
Kept me gripped, those who said they gave up after episode 1 missed a good storyline.

Disturbing and great final episode. Highlights coercive behaviour and stalking. Could have looked into the doctor's past and what made him the way he was but then it may have dragged the series out and 4 episodes is just right.

Could have expanded a bit on the final episode but I suppose that would have dragged it out too long.

I feel there could be a 2nd series, expanding on some of the side stories, I feel they were a bit unfinished especially the autistic doctor and the young transport officer.

Great acting by a young fresh cast.

Compelling drama
allsmart-5637027 December 2023
The drama tackles the sensitive yet crucial topic of coercive relationships and the complexities of fleeing domestic violence. The portrayal of the outcomes, especially when abusers take their own lives, shedding light on the aftermath of such situations.

It's commendable that the drama features actors from classic dramas/films, bringing their experience and depth to these sensitive scenes. This blend of seasoned talent in such serious roles likely adds authenticity to the portrayal of these critical issues.

I would say the show caters to both young adults and older audiences speaks to its universal relevance, as these serious cases can indeed affect individuals at any stage of life. Overall, "Platform 7" is well put together series that effectively addresses an important societal issue while providing valuable insights and awareness.

had potential but then......
wrigco4 January 2024
This started off quite well. It was intriguing and I thought it had the potential to go somewhere, Sadly, it did not. There were so many shots of the lead character standing and staring in between the so called action.

The old man added nothing to the story. Apparently this is based on a book, but this series didn't know if it was a thriller, drama or comedy. I have no idea if the book is any good or not, so can't make any observations on that.

Anyway, this had potential, but then was just silly. It could have been a good ghost story, even if we all knew exactly what was going to happen. 12345.

A Great British Drama (Highly Recommended)
stephenjameslee14 December 2023
A man makes his solitary way to Platform Seven, the platform which is furthest away from the station nightstaff. A place he knows he will be alone for sure. But he's not alone, Lisa Evans is there watching his every move, looking into his watery eyes and seeing what his intentions are.

I really enjoyed Platform 7, its rare you see great Drarmas from Great Britain but this was great.

I hope people watch this 4 Part Drama Series, Everyone played their part so well.

I wont give away any spoilers just to say just watch & stick with it, currently on ITVX & think ITV1 will get it in the New Year.

Enjoy.

Promising thriller that descends into nonsense Warning: Spoilers
STAR RATING: ***** Brilliant **** Very Good *** Okay ** Poor * Awful

TW: contains references to suicide

Lisa (Jasmine Jobson) is a spirit, roaming around a rundown London train station, invisible to everyone coming and going around her. One night, with no one around, she spots Edward (Phil Davis), who she is unable to stop taking his own life. After getting to know more about Edward, who harbours a dark secret, she becomes determined to learn the reasons behind her own death, and her relationship with Matthew (Toby Regbo), leading up to the event.

Director Geoffrey Sax adapts this several part adaptation of a novel by Louise Doughy, which makes for an intriguing little piece even if you're not familiar with the original source material. Touching on some uncomfortable subjects in its main story, it still manages to be a generally relatable affair, with a nice mix of younger talent and older talent, including veteran actor Davis, whose character arc takes a dark turn at a certain point, and leaves the main plot when he felt developed enough to stay to the end.

The theme of ghosts lingering around a certain area, unable to rest until something is resolved, is still a reliably serviceable template to frame a supernatural story around, and this is one that manages to fit some adult themes into the mix along with it. It's a story that admittedly has a lot of potential, but it takes a detour, and threads a load of improbable and far fetched plot turns to reach its end, with some political plot points thrown in, leading to some stilted and unconvincing dialogue, in spite of some strong lead performances and a decent supporting cast.

It's a shame this didn't come together and be the sum of its parts, because it definitely had the promise to. I'm sure the novel is much better. **

Warning: Spoilers
This contains spoilers!

Jasmine Robson is such a versatile actress!

Reminds me of the film Ghost in so many ways.. 10/10 watch!

If you love a thriller.. this is for you! Have to admit "sci-fi " is not normally my thing but the storyline had me glued to the screen.

If you have a weekend to binge something.. this is it!!!!!!!

Stick with it.. you'll be glued before you know it.. What happened to Lisa? It wasn't suicide.. what's the real story that took place on Platform 7?

It will keep you guessing right until the end of episode 4.. A British thriller sci-fi all in one.

What more could you want?

Haunting A Train Station
Pairic13 March 2024
Platform 7: A Thriller/Ghost story with elements if Dark Horror. Jasmine (Lisa Evans) awakes at a railway station, unsure of how she got there, She gradually learns that she died after falling under a train. How this occurred is explored over four episodes. Another ghost also dwells at the station, he can travel outside of it;s bounds but Jasmine is stuck there at first. It's too easy to reveal spoilers and plot twists about this series. Suffice to say that some people have dark motives and are hiding secrets, A Transport Policeman is suspicious about the circumstances of Jasmine's death and puts his jib at risk by continuing the investigation. The dark horror elements mostly take place in the final episode but there is a miasma of psychological horror permeating the entire series. Directed by Geoffrey Sax, Screenplay by Paula Milne, adapted from the novel by Louise Doughty. 7.5/10.

Utter Tripe!
littlehev25 March 2024
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!! It really helps if you care about the characters ... especially the protagonist! She was a terrible actress. The writing didn't help. It was very juvenile and aimed at 20yr olds! The idea has been done so many times before . And I can safely say give me Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore anytime.. Ghost was much more entertaining. I found myself fast forwarding through episodes 2 & 3 , only to find the last episode was even more pathetic! I just didn't care. Yes, you may find yourself saying , well why did you watch it then... because I kept waiting for it to fit these fantastic reviews!!

Don't be fooled folks and do yourself a favour .. look for Ghost on a streaming service!

Missed storyline
walkerrobin-115012 April 2024
What I don't understand is why we didn't see the Constable visit Shale or the Ex-Girlfriend and hear that conversation about his behavior? That was one of the best discoveries in the series.

That was one of the first request from his supervisor; speak to the Ex Girlfriend who's a nurse.

Also why didn't the other Constable tell his friend about the message he received from Dr. Shale?

Why No consequence for him?

That was a missed conversation.

I don't understand why the old man storyline was added; it did Nothing to increase the main storyline.

Overall I did enjoy the show.

I I recommend to several friends to enjoy.
