Good storyline but awkward acting

I loved the manga and the anime so was super excited to watch this live adaptation but it was quite lacklustre. What made me cringe was the acting... it felt like I was watching a highschool production. Now, not all of the actors were terrible but Kindaichi in particular's acting was especially cringe and unconvincing.

The plot on the other hand was okay. The mystery element was still there which is a necessity but yea I really couldn't get over the stuff/awkward acting by many of the cast members.

Overall, highly disappointed but I do encourage people to watch it to make their own judgement. I might not like it as much as I would have liked to but it might be different for you.

I can't believe anyone would honestly think that this is a good show

Although the story itself sounds promising, the whole series is just plain horrible. What works well in an anime or manga feels really cringey in a live action show. The "actors" are horrible except for maybe Miyuki's actress, the characters' behaviour is ridiculous, and the cases are so over the top that it's basically a miracle that any of the murders were carried out successfully. I mean, seriously, in the second case the killer only managed to pull it all off because no one looked back while they were running on the shore. Not to mention that in episode 8 Kindaichi himself says that he based his whole theory on a hunch. If the killers wouldn't admit everything, they could get away with the murders because most of the evidence presented by Kindaichi are circumstantial. Also, Japanese dorama should really stop casting boy band idols for the leads and try to get actors who are actually actors and can act.

Don't waste your time on this, there are much better detective stories out there, even from Japan...

Plainly horrible

Don't expect any good manga adaptation. Actors expressionless, blood looked so fake, the corpse or victims are horrible, doesn't looked like one, the conclusion of Kindaichi seems a bit odd and feels stupid. All cringey stuff was there. Not recommended at all. Don't bother watching this. Just reread the manga. Was any manga to live adaptation always this horrible? It was the same with alice in wonderland, cringe and stupid.

Many of their actions in the movie was not logic at all. And the kindaichi was not even in a pony tail. Those episodes in the movie are not close to a real one. Maybe they should learn from Hollywood.
