For a first episode of the season I was bothered by the fact that the agents were off their game over and over again.
The first perpetrator- the bomber escapes because they didn't properly clear the building and then he took a hostage when they couldn't contain him - and they were forced to kill him.
The second suspect kills an FBI Agent in a surveilled location and also escaped. After which they interview someone who turns out to be his accomplice and release her before checking her background.
Later the office based agents who are definitely having a better day locate the perpetrator again. But he again escapes and activates a timer based explosive. Once again he is chased into a building - takes hostages and surprisingly escapes once more - into another room with more hostages.
In the meantime the FBI bomb expert begins his work on the bomb with over 3 minutes on the timer. Don't ask why the bomb has digital countdown.
Agent Zidan calls for everyone to clear the area - and barricades magically appear less than 20 feet away with lots of onlookers. Then he says if the bomb cannot be defused then they need to evacuate the area - and the bomb expert says its too late for that - what?. Short time later after bomb expert said it was too late to evacuate timer there is still over 2 minutes and plenty of onlookers who are still less than 20 feet away. Later the timer is down to 8 seconds and bomb expert clips the blue wire, yay?
Back to the suspect - office agents stream video of suspect to field agents outside the door - it shows suspect and hostages. But then the agents discuss a plan and all take their eyes of the tablet showing suspect and hostages - and when they look again at the tablet which is still in Maggie's hand - the suspect has disappeared - WHAT?.
The FBI enter the room and suddenly the suspect escapes out another door of the building which apparently was also not cordoned off? Agent Wallace pursues alone - bringing into question where everybody else is now. Agent Wallace is clipped by a van and the suspect disappears on the non- barricaded streets.
Hopefully they will be more successful next time around and stop him.
I like the show and the characters - but that was a bit disappointing.
