Burnt-out screenwriter Atticus Crane (a solid and credible performance by C.J. Qualiana) moves into a new apartment. Crane soon finds himself being haunted by Skinner (a creepy and intense portrayal by writer/director Sam Qualiana), who's a scary character he created for a hit horror movie he wrote the script for. Sam Qualiana relates the engrossing story at a quick pace, neatly crafts and sustains a spooky atmosphere, and puts a welcome and refreshing emphasis on eerie mood over graphic gore and cheap scares. The sound acting by the capable cast holds everything together: Qualiana makes for a sturdy lead, with nice support from Andrew Elias as an antsy shut-in downstairs neighbor, Andy Taylor as the amiable landlord, and Paul McGinnis as supportive director buddy Charlie. The sharp cinematography by Sam and Simeon Qualiana provides a pleasing polished look. The shivery discordant score by Blaine Keyes and Simeon Qualiana hits the spine-chilling spot. Recommended viewing for fright fans.
