I really thought this series would be good. 👎

Ohhh so disappointed. Marcia Gay Harden is one of my favourite actresses and I really would have liked to see her succeed in her new TV series in which she plays a lawyer trying to break the glass ceiling. Her co star is Skylar Astin who plays Todd a tarnished private detective living under a cloud of shame due to a past indiscretion.

So mother's being who they are hires her son Todd to do a little investigating for her law firm but Todd just can't help himself as he bends the rules much more than his mother would want him to.

Of course Todd's recklessness benefits his mother's clients position so with risk comes reward. Unfortunately the rewards are very predictable and the banter between mom and son becomes tiring after episode three (3). I stopped watching as the interest waned steadily.

The pilot has Todd (Skylar Astin) a down in the dumps ex private investigator. He is struggling to make ends meet since he lost his licence. Now trying to catch people who commit benefit fraud.

His mother Joan (Marcia Gay Harden) is partner in a criminal law firm. She is defending a young woman who is accused of killing her ex boss who sexually harassed her.

Mother and son have been estranged but Todd decides to help her out when his stepfather suddenly walks out on his mother.

Only with his investigative skills, not only does he track down the stepfather, but finds out essential information about her mother's criminal case.

There was too much emphasis on the bickering. The comedy drama tone is not yet right. The criminal case felt secondary to me.

I did think when the prosecution introduced the late evidence. Joan should had objected over the DA's behaviour and for faking his head trauma that led to the trial getting delayed. In essence the DA lied to the judge.

As a legal drama, it does not appear as smart or sharp.
