Tough to like the characters or the film itself

"The Violation" is an American 13-minute (not 10 as it says on imdb) live action short film in the English language and this is one of the not so frequent filmmaking efforts for writer and director Chris Bradley, who is usually more of a prolific actor. In terms of acting, this film has some names in the cast list that you may have come across already in other projects especially on the small screen. But I doubt the semi-popularity here has a lot to do with that and I believe it is rather because of this being featured on the long-running gay-themed short films collection series "Boys on Film". This is the story of a kid from a poorer family who with his family is staying at a rich family's house making sure no burglars get in while the rich family is out. There the poorer boy makes a dummy of the richer boy's clothes and gets caught in the act promptly. Yeah well this is definitely not the most realistic film we have here, but at least it is not trying to sell us a really really out-of-nowhere unrealistic romance plot about the two boys getting together out of nowhere eventually. Still how can you find the protagonist likable with this really creepy stuff he does. No it is not sweet. Chelsea Ricketts, however, definitely is, one of the few positive aspects here and I think she is also a decent actress. All in all though a fairly forgettable movie and I give it a thumbs-down. Don't watch.

social message. fascination of a young man for his neighbor. a totem between magic and eroticism. the opportunity to explore old desire. and the sin. a film like many others from the same genre. not surprising, not great or remarkable. maybe, only decent. and seductive for the right manner to use the delicate poetry of an idea. nothing more. good actors, good dialogues. and the aura of a story who could wake up old memories of the viewer. all of them - virtues of a short film who gives a message with deep roots. who has a precise target who was convinced by the theme and performances. who propose a well known story , slice from youth period. after its final credits , not the story remains important. but the spider web in the spring wind of emotions.
