Warning: Spoilers
Hapless bumbling production assistant Stephen Pilton (a solid and sympathetic performance by Matthew Gudernatch) gets pushed around and stepped on by everybody during the production of a cheesy vampire horror flick. Director Douglas Quill, who also co-wrote the sharp and biting script with Gudernatch, delivers a hilariously caustic glimpse at the horrible plight of a lowly PA that also astutely nails the frenzied chaos and clashing egos that are an intrinsic part of shooting a motion picture. Gudernatch's appealingly klutzy persona serves as a sturdy anchor for all the hectic lunacy that occurs all around him; he receives excellent support from Mark DeAngelis as huffy director Tampert, Casey Hime as moody and hot-tempered actor Stewart Mandlelove, Christine Torressen as vapid and self-absorbed actress Kristin Salore, and Mark O'Connell as a touchy special effects guy. Quill's lively and agile use of a Steadicam gives the film an extra kinetic buzz. Devin Glass' groovy thumping score hits the rocking spot. Funniest moments: Pilton has to remove 40 rats from a Port-O-Potty and Pilton steals actual blood from a hospital after he spills a plastic bottle full of fake plasma. The final closing scene is absolutely priceless. A total riot.
